One of the things I love about Motown, Muscle Shoals and Stax was you could hear the bass so well and it was so musical. With the Staple Singers, it was the dominate/driving force in most songs.I'm jealous, I've always wanted to play that stuff in a band, I don't think anyone really knew who they were when they were really active. I include Paul McCartney in that list except we all knew who he was, he inspired me to play bass, I loved the sound of the bass, his bass at least for me was probably the first bassist whose bass really stood out, it was louder than just about anyone else's back then, although Motown bass was mixed up pretty loud too along with that high pitched kick drum..
I remember the first time I put some headphones on and really heard what Peter was playing. I was aaaaaamazed.Love Schacher and Peter Cetera, he's one of the fastest pick style players I've ever heard, great sound and very tasteful lines in addition to singing at the same time, I'm surprised more bassists don't recognize how good he is/was too. (I don't think he's playing much bass these days although he did start playing again).
People are saying that Neil Young is the only recording artist left that doesn't use autotune.![]()

I think he just didn't wanna play what we were playing, but as I said, he coulda just told us that up front.I'm 100% positive he probably could have played just about anything he wanted to in 1971 unless he REALLY improved a lot by 1976. That being said I'm not a big Jaco fan, bought the first album, marvelled at his playing and never played it again and I agree with you about his tone, I like bass. Jaco completely changed bass styles, created a lot of lead bass players. I don't mind busy players as long as their bass sound sound sounds like a bass, I never heard of him until the Joni Mitchell- Mingus album, I liked what he did on that album a lot.
We had nine deer in the front yard a while ago. I mean poop machines.
IDK if he directed what she should play, or if she played lines that he would be able to play live.If you're talking about the BB stuff she did, most of that came from Brian Wilson but you knew that already.
You made me listen, you made it 5 seconds more than I did. I did and still really like SOS though and that's probably the only one by them I really like. There's something about this song that I love, maybe it's the classical piano intro and the synthesizer, it was a really well written and performed song. It has a haunting quality to it.

The band was my drummer friend’s idea. Then he quit because he doesn’t want to gig anymore. I’m doing my best to keep it rolling because almost every tune has a fun bass line!I'm jealous, I've always wanted to play that stuff in a band, I don't think anyone really knew who they were when they were really active. That's a good one. Maybe weird, but my favorite is Dancing Queen. Also has an eerie feel to it. Well sung and produced.

We’ve also decided to branch out beyond Motown/Stax, so we’re doing stuff like Ophelia and Oh What a Night. I’m going to suggest Saturday in the Park.

It is not a "happy" song, thus the haunting quality. Great harmonies, excellent arrangement. It is weird, it has eerie haunted quality to it, the keyboards are excellent in that tune. I just listened to Dancing Queen too, I don't know if they played their own stuff in the studio but whoever did were very good players.
When I first saw the set list I didn’t recognize some tunes, but they were all familiar when I heard them.Yup, love that stuff. My ear was glued to the radio so much when I was a kid it doesn't take me much to really learn them properly. I could fake my way through a lot of that stuff now.
Happy Birthday Geo
Aren't the necks really wide on the originals? I've never tried one but I've heard that. People were sayin'.
He played with the early version on his computer album Trans. But yeah, he may be one of the few who flat refuses to use it.People are saying that Neil Young is the only recording artist left that doesn't use autotune.![]()
