Thunderbird Club

This track has a great overdriven bass sound. Players aren't too shabby either. Those damn Swedes again:

I'm getting the MojoMojo pedal today. There will be clips I promise.

One thing I don't like about drive pedals that have a blend is that the clean sound is sometimes too separate sounding. I mean when I have the overdrive on my playing touch is different (mostly more aggressive) and that doesn't necessarily work with the clean sound audible. Depends on a pedal of course.

The guitarist reminds me of Johnny Winters. Good band.

I haven't crossed the border since '81. Coming into Canada at Windsor, the Customs lady was professional but nice; coming back into the States at Buffalo, the Customs guy was an a-hole.

I have found U.S. customs/immigration to be by far the rudest of all, sometime you feel like they're gonna climb out of the little cubicle and pin you to the floor.

A nice, quiet day here.....

They made a brown 'smoke' RI in 1998 which has the slide-in pu - pretty cool. I just saw this and noticed they up-graded the classic Dano bridge with brass saddles...

...I did the same thing in my '68 Coral (Dano) Deluxe Bass -

Aren't the necks really wide on the originals? I've never tried one but I've heard that. People were sayin'.

That's OK. I met Jaco in 71-before he became JACO. The band I was in(on keys and sax)was looking for a bass player. We were doing late 60s/early 70s R&R. He came-with an attitude-and either wasn't interested, which he could've said from the get-go, or couldn't play the stuff we were doing(Who, Free, Sly and the Family, etc.). I s'pose that colored my opinion of him from then on. Amazing technician, horrible tone-IMNSHO.
Jamerson I didn't know by name until long after I was influenced by his playing. He-and other studio players-weren't in the credits on albums I bought.

I'm 100% positive he probably could have played just about anything he wanted to in 1971 unless he REALLY improved a lot by 1976. That being said I'm not a big Jaco fan, bought the first album, marvelled at his playing and never played it again and I agree with you about his tone, I like bass. Jaco completely changed bass styles, created a lot of lead bass players. I don't mind busy players as long as their bass sound sound sounds like a bass, I never heard of him until the Joni Mitchell- Mingus album, I liked what he did on that album a lot.
