Thunderbird Club

Our Bond Girl show tonight at Winters' Tavern in Pacifica went well. We were first up at 8pm and the place was packed. We got good levels w/o a sound check - just spy-rocked from the downbeat. With so many people filling the Tavern, we were loud - but in a good way. Had my Ashdown 550 Spyder Gain & Master at 12:00 and it once again gave me a really phat chocolatey tone with just enough hair to be expressive. And my '66 J never lets me down - it has been my BG bass from the start.
Everyone was engaged and there was a good vibe in the air. Outside it was clear but cold and windy - we're getting another series of big storms next week. We played well and I think Skyfall was the favorite - you can always tell when an audience really likes a song because they start clapping as it's ending. (as compared to waiting until it's ended) Cherie is Bond Girl - all we need to do is support her dynamically. Sometimes it takes years to get all the right elements to be successful. With our new drummer Phil and Cheries re-energized re-entry into performing - we're a force to contend with and better than ever!

There was a 'live stream' but don't know if there'll be pics. If they turn up, I post something. One comment was that we "looked and sounded professional" ... being a serious amateur - I'll take that! :)

I'd leave it like that. Looks great and J pickup in that position sounds very good.
Used it on a recording straight away and found out why I usually go for my Custom Stingray bass. Because that Rick doesn't lay nicely in a mix, it's very woofy on the neck pickup and very snarly with the bridge pickup. It plays really well, but it's not a good bass for recording.

Two bands and what amounts to a steady gig. Your’re living the life Geo. Congratulations!

They're not the same pickups at all, I much prefer the Gibson, through my rig they're fuller sounding with much better lo mids and bass, a bit less top zing. Over all I like them, not as much as my '64s, the Lull or Greco though.
I am loving the pickups in the NR. Along with the Traynor amp, it is the sound I have been searching for. Others have been close (perfect is the enemy of good) including the Casady and the TBird CP, but I think this bass ends my buying of basses.*

* I'm probably wrong about that. But for now...

After all my blender and low pass filter experiments I found a pedal that would do it all:
https://www.broughtonaudio.com/product-page/filter-fx-loop

Very handy. The HPF in the effect loop (affects the signal before the effect) could come handy with the 12-string bass.

Of course it's out of stock. Oh well.
Maybe somebody will trade his/hers to a one hot overdrive pedal that is "the s*!t" at the moment...:D
That looks very interesting. A very Geddy solution - a clean channel and a dirty channel. With HPF and LPF. That would be very useful...

Thanks for the suggestion but I'll stick with D'Addario XL's as I'm so used to how they feel.

Anyway, today saw the return of a bass I owned 25 years ago.

It's a Tokai which I bought as a husk and modded to my liking. It has Dimarzio pickups and a Leo Quann Badass bridge. The guy who bought it from me back then reached out and asked "Want it back?"

Does McDonalds sell hamburgers?

It needs a good set up, the strings which are on there were the same ones I sold it with. And I'll probably put some more appropriate pickups and hardware on there.
Cool.
Not sure about the hamburgers though.;)

Yeah, compared to a Burger King "Whopper" Mickey Dee's doesn't really make Burgers.
Everyone to their own 'bag'(see what I did there?), but I can't stand BK's overcooked, gamy tasting burgers. In fact, I've totally given up on chain outlet burgers-except Checker's.
EDIT: also known as "Rally's". Both have great seasoned fries.

Saw a Tbird on Facebook market place that was clearly a CP. Reasonable price, great condition, including the triangular case that will also fit a VP. I noticed he advertised it as Probucker 760 pickups. Showed him privately that they were TB+ but he told me I didn't know what I was talking about as the pickups were Gibson Probucker 760, not Epiphone Probucker 760. OK, one more idiot on Facebook.

Thanks Marshall - I spent many years between being in short-lived bands and performing live high & dry, frustrated not connecting - so I am finally realizing my 'dream' and it makes me very happy. The best part of it compared to the monk-like life as a studio-based (visual) artist is I get to be creative with other creative people. Maybe if I would have figured that out earlier in my life... nah, that's history - it's all good! :)

The only one I occasional eat is In & Out burgers. And only on road trips to SoCal needing to gas-up and get something predictable but decent to eat. Otherwise - I'll pass on the Big Mac attack...

Cherie must have a spectacular voice to pull off those songs.
