I was about to post this because sometimes you're just in the mood for the Afghan Whigs, and sure enough a double whammy of a Thunderbird and Firebird. But John Curley, the bass player, I've only really known to play a Ric. So not sure it's actually a Thunderbird on the recording.

At first I didn't think I was going to like it. Kept listening and was glad I did. Thanks for posting!

My Dad and I-both saxists-loved these guys. L to R, the saxes are Bb Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Soprano and Sopranino. They also used a BBb Contra Bass(Sax)

If you watch the video the contrabass first makes an appearance at 31:49. It weighs in at 327 pounds.
BTW, I got the opportunity to play a bass sax*-not a contrabass sax-dfuring my time in the USN music program. I felt like I needed an air hose up...well, somewhere.

*IDK what it weighed but it was a lot more than my 8.5# Thunderbird.

Beaster Sunday - Winters' Tavern Pacifica... on a spectacular sunny and warm day on the left-coast! It is the 10th yr anniversary of CJ & Corrine owning Winters' and today was the finali of 10 days straight of live music at Winters' Tavern! CJ was exhausted but was still present to rock-out to all 8 bands! Some crazy fun was had today! (TSC's pic's soon)

There were 3 T-birds at Winters' today! (I played my Saudersbird) This band played after us at 6pm (we played a 4PM) I staggered the 8 bands inside & out on the hr - worked out well. Our show and these guys had the biggest & best audience as everyone was pleasantly surprised by how nice the weather was outside! Most of you (of a certain age) probably know the band-name reference. (framed within a T-bird car graphic)

On the left (saying LOOK!) > Sparkle Plenty... on the right - Moon Maid. The "granny" at the upper left is "Gravel Gertie", married to B.O. Plenty and parents of Sparkle Plenty. Moon Maid was from... the moon. (can't ch' tell?)

And I wasn't aware it went back even further... interesting on Beaster Sunday as a bunny was involved.

There is a story that didjeridoo players have to learn ‘circular breathing’. When random breath testing came in an urban myth started that didji players wouldn’t show alcohol on a breathalyser so go learn the didj.

I decided better all round to just not drink n drive.
