Quick edit for accuracy - “Never Say Never Again” was also a non franchise Bond film (one of only three made to date) even though it starred SC. It was a take off on one of the greats - Thunderball. The other two non franchise Bond movies are the 1954 version of Casino Royale and the 1967 version of Casino Royale.
And broccoli is named after the Broccoli family of JB franchise fame.

(I think. Though it would be funnier the other way around).

I've been checking around and am getting conflicting information.
I believe several yrs (decades now?) ago it was all shipped to Mex. But I think some of it is now done here again. I could be wrong, so if someone has some documentation, please correct me. I don't want to go around thinking or saying things that are not correct.

Seen em all, countless times. Except for the 1954 film (made for TV movie). Saw that one once years ago, but the wife has never seen it. So tonight will be a Bond night watching the first Casino Royale, it’s on YouTube, so I’ll mirror it on my big screen. Popcorn and Vesper Martinis (shaken not stirred of course) for the win!

Watched it - the lead is not the most likely James Bond. Peter Lorrie is a favorite of mine, (even playing a sadist) he's like Christopher Walker - anything he's in is worth watching. 'Jimmy' Bond (as referenced early in the movie) drank scotch, no 'tony' mixed drink.

I suppose it is possible if they spent a lot of money on a special booth with filters and scrubbers. Ifs been some years since I did the factory tour and I don’t recall that discussion during the tour. If I go again (it’s a fun way to send a couple hours), I’ll definitely ask.

@Stealth57 Thanks for doing the string and bass review. I tend to favor the original strings and LaBella nylons the best. All sounded really good, but those stood out in the process you used and sounded great to me.

When I first started playing bass as a teen in the late '60s, I strung my '68 EB3 with tape-wounds. Not sure why, maybe because they 'felt' better. I only recently (last few years) used Roto-tapes on a couple basses. (same set) I liked them ok but they didn't stay on long. I prefer LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats and GHS Precision flats.

Great question!
I’d probably have to answer that in three parts - vintage Bond, transition Bond and contemporary Bond.

Vintage Bond (pre Roger Moore era) - my favorite song is probably Gold Finger, it just captures the feeling of the movie and the era in which it was filmed so well.

Transition Bond (Roger Moore era) - I’d have to go with Live and Let Die. Probably the best of the Roger Moore era songs. Followed closely by Diamonds are Forever.

Contemporary Bond (post Roger Moore era) - this is the toughest one for me. I love The World is Not Enough and Skyfall songs equally well, but the World Is Not Enough video is tops.

My favorite James Bond actor is Daniel Craig followed very closely by Sean Connery. My least favorite was Timothy Dalton (or even worse if we’re counting him is David Niven). My favorite Bond Girl is really a tough one - Ursula Andress (as Honey Rider in Dr. No) or Diana Rigg (as Countess Teresa di Vicenzo in Her Majesty’s Secret Service) or Sophie Marceau (as Electra King in The World Is Not Enough, technically a villain but that’s not obvious until later in the movie, she starts out as a Bond girl, or at least posing as one).
I was surprised to enjoy George Lazenby’s performance in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but agree with the Daniel Craig & Sean Connery ratings. I got bored with Roger Moore, really only like Live and Let Die which I saw in the local movie theatre as a young pup. Dislike Dalton as Bond.

That or raise the E string a bit if you have a height-adjustable bridge (the three point and two piece do not have that feature). In general, fatter strings will generate a bigger signal than skinny strings, everything else being equal (not that it is). I definitely have my pickups lowered on the low end strings. It's the same on every guitar I've owned, not just basses, and not just Thunderbirds. It may be more so on birds; I never compared heights that way.
Or check the number on the back of the string guides (string thingies) if it is a 3 point, just to get all the strings to the right heights.

Roger Moore was good in "The Saint" TV show. That RM JB period was kitsch-city like most of the '80s. I was cognitively aware in the '80s as a young adult and found much of it regressive and forgettable. I know others here claim it as "their" decade (and rightly so) - but I was just glad to get through it. I didn't dislike all of the '80s... just most of it.

Yes, The Saint was a favourite show when it was on here years and years ago. :)

That one Thunderbird I have no experience with. But I still suggest trying different strings first if everything else looks normal. Not the same PUs, but LaBella black nylons sound fantastic on modern Gibsons, and look great with the black hardware. They are not not rounds and not really flats, but sound great.
