Well, he was buying basses pretty regularly when I first met him on the 'Pit and things were not quite so expensive then either. I remember him saying that the EB-6 Hollow body was the one bass that really cost a lot when he bought it at 10K. As Germans can be, he is a completist and he scoured ebay and music stores for Gibson basses at a time when most folks didn't think of them at all. When I joined the 'Pit I had my '73 4001 and the '89, which still had all black hardware, between Uwe, Scott and George Carlston I was turned into a Thunderbird junkie in less than 6 months - and everything had to have chrome hardware..........Thousands of dollars later
