Those of you who use overdrive, what do you run, and where in your chain? That includes running distortion pedals as overdrives (the ones that you reasonably can)... A couple guys in another club are huge fans of running an MBD2 as an overdrive.

Good day everybody.
I'm not sure if this thread is the right one but I think there are experts here who probably can help me.
I have a Jazz Bass pickup (1977) which after a long break from playing is just dead. After I removed it and measured it, it was clear that it had zero resistance. I checked the solder joints and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. The wires of the coils arrive at the soldering points, but courious there are two wires at one soldering point??? The pickup was never rewound. The pickup was working a long time ago and since then no alterations have been made to it.
Anyone have any ideas on this or how a pickup can just die?
You know I've been using the Damnation MBD (1 then 2) for years as my only dirt. Overdrive and distortion kind of overlap. I think it's all dirt of differing degrees. My chain is Tuner -> HPF -> EHX Steel Leather -> Boost -> MBD2 -> 800RB preamp. Those of you who use overdrive, what do you run, and where in your chain? I posted a pic the other day of essentials I ordered last week. This arrived today. New bottle design. I really hope they haven’t messed with the formula. I’ve been using Gibson polish for years.

I don’t use an overdrive pedal. Between the Mesa TT 800 and the SVT VR and the Thunderbirds, I get all the dirt I usually need. I do have a Big Muff Fuzz, more for fun than anything else. Those of you who use overdrive, what do you run, and where in your chain? You’re killing me Willy.I buy Epiphone polish and put a Gibson sticker on it.

Now that right there is the best line of the day

from a couple of years ago….I haven’t been by the Salton Sea since 2014. It was a puddle then. Send pics. I’d like to hope it has improved with the rains this year. When I was a young kid in San Diego, my parents took us there a few times during the winter. It was pretty cool during the early sixties.
Fear and Loathing....
That’s gold!I buy Epiphone polish and put a Gibson sticker on it.
Nice! Those are essentially the Power Wounds. You were looking for nickel over steel for that bass?
Turned out great! I would get better tuners for mine and have Wilkins refinish it in Pelham Blue. But the finish is just too nice on mine. The only mod it really needs is a pickup. Such a great Thunderbird!
We’ll compare at the GTG with Chucky’s.
Excellent! Save yourself some money and get the Power Wounds. Same string, other than the Fusion process. At least with the Power Steel and RB Stainless (AKA Fusion) I didn't notice any difference.Yes, when I got my Lull T4 it came with Nickel Rounds and I loved how it sounded, I kind of lost that somewhere along the way, so I gave the SITs a try and WoW! they're really nice sounding, I' going to buy another couple of sets, one for the Lull and another to possibly put on the '64.
I bet it did! Nice score.yessir! took awhile to find that sextet..
