Thunderbird Club

I have another opportunity to take my Marshall out next weekend, so I'm starting to think maybe I should look at preamps.:D
I was thinking the other day that if I had little to no equipment, I would likely go with a power amp and get a few pedal preamps for different flavors. So many these days seem to sound really good. But having a couple rack pres would be nice as well.

Kinda like this…

Fast forward to 4:30…

Laguna Seca historic Trans Am races held every year during car week in Monterey, this year it’s the weekend after the GTG.

Javelins are one of my all time favorite cars. So very cool looking. A friend had one years ago. Should have bought it from him...... He wanted a Corvette. One of the few people I knew with money.

I mean the Peavy is a great amp.
So it would pair well with a good cab.

My guess is it would eat a crappy cab for breakfast.
Oh, I didn't take you as saying the Peavey was not so hot. I got what you were saying. I was just saying that any berg would make even a cheap amp sound really good. Those peavey heads are so versatile they can sound awesome through most anything IME.

tragic....tell me more, Go-Pack? motor? tranny? they look nicer (imho) in that color than do the AMX's...

and for the pic…

401 engine with an automatic transmission. Yellow exterior with black competition nose stripe (like the one in the picture). Black interior. It had the rear spoiler but no fiberglass hood or cowel induction so I don’t think it had the Go-Pack option. Whole car was in mint condition when I bought it in 1979 in San Jose, it had about 30,000 miles on it. The first wife and I had just had our first baby so I sold my 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Spyder two seater (well it had a “backseat” but only to cheat the insurance companies). We bought the Javelin AMX (for me) and a 1968 VW Bug (for my wife).

New Pedal. I sold a TCE phaser that was getting me by when my old Phase 90 died. After Chuck breathed new life into it I didn't need it any longer, so I sold it on Sweetwater's used site and had $95 on hold. I kept thinking I'd buy something but I don't need strings and when I do, I find them other places. Saw a demo of a JHS Phaser for just shy of my balance after taxes. I wanted one for home as I love hearing a phaser at times and the TCE was nice, but didn't make me love it.

I got to use it today and this is really nice for what I want to hear--just a touch of flavor. I was really impressed. Didn't have to spend any time getting what I wanted. Nice pedal and a decent price. It's not going to replay my beloved Phase 90, but it's nice to have a nice one at home or a back up if ever needed again.

interestingly enough, not a single bass pedal or effect outta 5 bands at yesterday’s show…

Punctuation is everything. Where's the Comma Chameleon...?

Pretty much identical to this one except mine was a 1974 and had an 1800 motor in it…

Great little sports car! I’d get another one in a heartbeat if I had room for it in the garage.

On a related note, about three years after I remarried I bought my new wife one of these for her birthday…

1986 Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce. Every bit as much fun as the Fiat. Both were incredibly reliable while I owned them. Neither is going to win any races against the cheapest current Toyota but sometimes it’s just not about speed, sometimes it’s just all about a free revving engine, a silky smooth stick shift, and having the top down on 2 lane country road.

Thank God. It still has the frets. Very nice Willy!

For now.....

Two things I think I figured out about our friend Willy. He’s crazy. But he isn’t stupid.

I think if I hadn’t discovered the 21 NR’s the Greco may have ended up fretless. As it is I’ll probably sell my Inverness fretted NR. The fretless burgundy is just too awesome…

I have my reverse CP Epiphone already defretted before I met y’all and I’m happy with it, and I already had my JazzReVerse so I’m all set for reverses… and I don’t like them nearly as much as the NR’s.

my top fretlesses/fretlessi/bass is my gold 7enderDC, and my 4004 fretless Ric, followed closely by my burgundy NR and my 4003w fretless Ric… (HelloRic)

got too many top base geetars, a horrible dilemma to be cursed with…

I have some cool fretted as well, but I’m hoping my headless NR will end up top of the heap and I’ll let most others go, including the Greco and 21… and dc danelectro, and 2018 EB4, and 5 string 95 4003 ric, and 4003ac, I think that’s it for fretted…

still got a few more fretless like my 7exploder, 51, and Hohner Jack.

Bit of an upgrade from the bug

Good times/bad times

Dang. My NR neck pickup got very quiet at a gig. Just got around to looking at it. I’m guessing that little wire should be attached inside the pickup. :banghead:

I have Lollars in my Reverse, but I didn’t feel a need to do that replacement on the NR, until now. Maybe just the neck pickup.

Anyway, we made a Korean BBQ dinner, so that made up for this little sadness.

Enjoy your week! :hyper:

The white VP did not disappoint yesterday during an outside party. 95 degrees and high humidity.Direct sunlight and shade at times.
It stayed in tune the entire day. Definitely a solid instrument.
Cheers!

Is it even legal to play a Thunderbird without a pick? I think you may be facing seizure of your Thunderbird and club expulsion!
