Thunderbird Club

Is it even legal to play a Thunderbird without a pick? I think you may be facing seizure of your Thunderbird and club expulsion!
Well, I've been playing mine mostly finger style since '73, so...

I do use a pick when the song calls for it. Maybe I can get by with a warning and probation.. :)

Picks are easy to find on stage. The two guitar players each have a whole string of them on their mike stands.
I just mosey on over and snag one while I'm pretending to say Hi

I lived in Kentucky for 4 years in a small town called Edmonton. I visited Lexington and Edmonton last year and had forgotten how pretty the area can be.
I also have a red Hamer Blitz, but yours looks like the metallic red, which I prefer.

I am in Louisville, have an ‘84 Hamer Blitz Bass. And 2 Epiphone Thunderbirds.

From what the previous owner said they are handmade, I looked everywhere to find them and I found one post about the maker and appears these are a special custom pickups, they have a be lot of warmth and power. Somewhat modern but remind me of a p90 or like the Serek pickup in their short scale basses. It’s a high quality bass, and the maple fingerboard brings out some of the brightness and that short scale tone. It definitely unique and I will be taking it to practice on Monday to see how it does with my band. I may have been crazy but traded my 84 Hamer Blitz for it that I could not get into! I couseem to sell it and didn’t have much into it so it was worth it to me.plus finding a box big enough to ship it was too much of a hassle.

I ended up getting my Hamer back, it ended up not being right for me so I have the Hamer once again and played it all weekend in a festival and a punk gig Saturday. It rocks but is still too much for me. Gonna see if someone wants to trade for a Thunderbird or a Stingray. Maybe a Guild Starfire as I wouldn’t mind having a semi hollow.

I need all the help I can get.
I ‘m playing straight through to the input 99% of the time. The Mesa TT 800 and the SVT give me plenty of tonal options on their own. Especially the Mesa. I’ve found my “It” settings and use the tone pot on the bass to adjust to taste for sone individual songs. Except when I’m playing my balls to the walls Blackbird.

Nice! I’m in Jeffersonville which is basically considered Louisville metro
Used to be some great music stores in So Indiana. Far Out was huge years ago (Peavey dealer back then), and Pro Sound in Clarksville was always great to me (very early 80). There was another I can't think of, but those two I visited regularly.

A Starfire is one of the few non-Thunderbirds I’d like to have. That list also includes a Watt Plower and a Thundergun.

I think if I hadn’t discovered the 21 NR’s the Greco may have ended up fretless. As it is I’ll probably sell my Inverness fretted NR. The fretless burgundy is just too awesome…

I have my reverse CP Epiphone already defretted before I met y’all and I’m happy with it, and I already had my JazzReVerse so I’m all set for reverses… and I don’t like them nearly as much as the NR’s.

my top fretlesses/fretlessi/bass is my gold 7enderDC, and my 4004 fretless Ric, followed closely by my burgundy NR and my 4003w fretless Ric… (HelloRic)

got too many top base geetars, a horrible dilemma to be cursed with…

I have some cool fretted as well, but I’m hoping my headless NR will end up top of the heap and I’ll let most others go, including the Greco and 21… and dc danelectro, and 2018 EB4, and 5 string 95 4003 ric, and 4003ac, I think that’s it for fretted…

still got a few more fretless like my 7exploder, 51, and Hohner Jack.
Keep me in mind when the time comes to part with the Greco please.
