Thunderbird Club

I hope they cleaned that out after y'all were in there having a good time.

That was my favorite expensive beer decades ago when there were few to choose from.
Buddy Freshman year in college had a “source” at the distributor who would sell it to him for five bucks a case. We would start partying with that then have to switch to Ballantine or Brew 102 at $.99 a six for the rest of the night.

I’ve been kicking myself for missing you guys when you were there a few years ago. It’s 90 minutes door to door. I do not want to miss the chance to say hi in person and hear you play live.

Hearing me play live might not be so thrilling :)

Didn't Tommy Shannon play a Robin for a while?

For quite awhile

if I wasn’t such a scrub.
I’d have it serviced along with the Ashly.
Your M6 is down?

I do most of our announcements/between song banter. Sometimes the drummer announces something. I've suggested to him numerous times to not speak in a normal speaking voice. People talk to each other between songs. Ya hafta use yer "outside" voice if ya wanna be heard.

Good point Mike.

what kind of PA is it?

I don't really know, maybe a Macke? They've recently upgraded the monitors which helps us hear ourselves on stage, and the board is on the stage wall to my left. Because there is no sound person, each band screws around with the system and you never know what you're going to encounter for the night. Paul handles it for both bands - I help untangle cords and test-test-test mics.

Replace it.

I replaced the grill cloth on my '76 B15N. Original had an old stain most likely from a toppled beer set on the head. Original sparkly cloth had a slight blue-tint but otherwise the replacement is pretty much the same, just more grey.

used to fly to S’pore fairly often when working at Creative Labs……you saw everyone hit the bathroom every time that announcement was made over the PA by the flight attendant upon approach lol…
LOL - can’t say I never did that. I can remember mucking my back up restacking a rock wall the day before I needed to leave on a business trip to Asia. The first leg of the trip was Japan and by the time I got there from Cincinnati (thru Minneapolis) I was in some serious pain. One of my employees there gave me a handful of prescription pain killers (either Tramodol or Percodan IIRC). Took one, it worked great and got me through the board meetings in Japan. The next day I took off to Singapore, my first business trip to that country. As the plane was preparing for landing the drug announcement came on and I realized I still had about four of those pills in my pocket. Would have been awfully hard to explain why I had morphine or opioids with out a prescription, not that you’d even get a chance to explain it. They take that law pretty seriously. Ended up downing one pill and flushed the rest before the plane landed.

Back in the 70s the TV news often had a report of some Aussie/s landing in Singapore with their Australian acceptable long male hair…. and being frogmarched straight into the barbers for Singapore regulation male short back n sides haircut. They generally were not impressed!

It was like something from an old movie when the new conscripts arrived at an Army camp and straight to the barber.

My Singapore experience: it wasn’t. The Midway battle group was supposed to be deployed to the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War to protect third country oil tankers. On the way, we were going to have a port call in Singapore. A day before we got there our schedule changed and we had to report to the Gulf zippy quick. We steamed past Singapore right before dawn. We were close enough to see the streetlights on a coastal road. Then into the Gulf for a few months.

Did make a port call in Fremantle Australia on the way back home to Japan.

Marshall, was your post a senior moment?
Kinda like walking into a room to get something, but when you get there you can’t remember what it was you wanted.
Ha. Nope. I had a heck of a time getting the website to cooperate. It looked like the post didn’t take, hit reply again, and it was there twice. Then couldn’t delete it.
