Question to the kingdom about fenderbirds;

What's the appeal? Anything to do with neck dive, or neck feel/profile? Or does Entwhistle's influence weigh on this too? Genuinely curious, closest ive come to playing a fenderbird is the Dean bird they made/make - was nice, though too slim a neck for my preference on a big body.

It'll be my 1st reverse HS ever, really looking forward to playing the finished product later this fall.

I have a thing for Thunderbirds for sure, can't really explain it, just drawn to the vibe and sound. I owned various Gibsons and Epis over the last 7 years and for me, the primary reason for shifting to FenderBirds is ergonomics: it might not be by much, but that shorter neck is way gentler on my left shoulder (recurring tendonitis), enough to make a difference and allow me to play Thunderbirds as much as I want, without running to the physiotherapist. I do listen to the Who, owned a few albums back then and still have WGFA, Baba, Behind Blue Eyes, Who Are You and others on my playlists, although I won't pretend being a big fan. BUT, I have huge respect for their accomplishments as a band and for the mark The Ox left on our universe, either by his playing or his innovations.

No, I am standing on Ediz Hook which is a long skinny bit of land that helps form the port here. Right behind me is the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the southern edge of Vancouver Island.

even more coincidence, we were practically neighbors…my dad worked at the Cooper Bessemer office in Mount Vernon where we lived…..could have totally happended as I was 5 in 69 and remember the track….

agree…so much so it's hard to tell the vintage of the Bird…..kinda sounds like sidewinders….

I'm sure it won't happen again. Pink slip after the show for violating the unspoken but very real rule of acting like the band has a bassist.

I'm still working to get the current flock of Thunderbirds how I want them. Geo is repairing the finish on the TV Silver Epi and Irv is doing a PG and TR cover for the Silverburst Epi. And I'll be putting the now available and ordered Gibson chrome vintage Alnico Tbird pickup in the BaCH. I'd like to do something with the Epi Goth to make it sound better than a typical Epi IV. And although I thought it was solved a few days ago, there is something funky going on with the electronics in the White Epi LE CS that I've got to figure out and rectify.

Other than a Breedlove ABG, which I'll be picking up when arrangements can be made, I don't see adding any other basses for awhile. But never say never. But anything in the next year or two will be a Thunderbird, and maybe a Thundergun. I know, famous last words….

I have a set of 2021 Gibson NR pickups in my VP, I got them from Scott in a straight trade for Epi 760s some time back. I much prefer the Gibson's while Scott likes the Epi far better, I think a lot of our choices are based on the rigs we each use. For me, the Gibson's have a lot more going on in the low to mid frequencies and a bit less upper end zing than the Epi.

The Vintage Pro/60s has Probucker 760 pickups which are the same size as most other chrome Gibson Tbird pickups.

It sounds good. I really like them. Although it has been some time since I've visited the music. Rabbit hole time.
