Thunderbird Club

I feel like I've seen y'all praising these pickups. Asking 5, the rule of beat up CL tells me this child probably go 2-3. Is that worth it? I have no idea, but I know if anybody would care about this stuff it'd be y'all.
If all is good, I would remove the ridiculous Pbass pickup, fill in and refinish. I'm not one of the Greco experts, but the price may not be bad, considering.

I figured if you get it to 2-300 a good set of pickups is worth close to that much. The rest of the bass has to be worth something. Maybe not the best deal ever, but work mentioning at least.

Anybody got any sound clips of a single pickup in the "p" position?

That one is kinda trashed, I would wait for a better one. Greco's are fantastic basses, I have a II, single pickup that I love! It is next best to a Gibson '64 in many ways!

Some daft old Bird going on about it, if you go to 3:15 I talk about the bass and you can skip my barely mediocre playing

The Hipshot bridge will do that because it isn’t flat on the bottom, there is a recess around the two mounting holes on the underside. I do not care for the Hipshot bridge in the Thunderbird, and so far, 2 of 4 that I bought recently had them, and the inserts had to be tapped back down. Nothing like smacking your “new to me” bass with a hammer! I much more prefer the Babicz.
It is easy to overtighten the Hipshot.

It was actually loose.
So I just slightly tightened it.
Then it lifted.

I just hope it’s an easy fix.
I used Titebond (because it doesn’t make a mess like superglue or epoxy and cleans off the surface easily) to glue the Epi inserts on the Silverburst that were pulled up when I got it. Let it cure for a week before installing the bridge and tighten slowly until just snug. Bring strings up to pitch slowly and evenly. Remember to be careful when gluing not to let glue cover the ground wire on the control side.

Yes, I imagine it could be had for less. I didn't look closely at the condition. But if refinished, maybe the roughness can be addressed. Who knows, the neck and other things may be very concerning. But the pickups would be worth 200-300 IMO and well worth it.

After using my bass case rack for a week, I decided it could use more rigidity. I added a bigger back support rail and a brace between the lower rails. Now you can load cases filled with birds and not worry about the weight.

Interesting. I'm 2 for 2 working great with the Supertone.
