Thunderbird Club

Dunno, 75 (23c) everyday sounds ok. My wife would like that temp 365 days of the year.

We are getting your weather of 6 months ago. We’re been around 35c (~ 95f I think) in Sydney for the last week, 36c at the airport yesterday was a record for mid Sept evidently.

Already in a total fire ban and expecting a bad summer for bush fires.

Yeah, still a little high considering the TR cover doesn't have Gene on it.
Cheaper with the Gene

Just ordered a couple from there, thanks!

Of course almost as soon as I complained about the lack of response from Gibson, I got a reply from them, and they indicated that they don’t have them available for sale.
See, they were watching. Always watching.
And waiting.

Rain will be a blessing there, what with smoke. Smoke season is not fun.
Yes, I have been laid low with asthma the previous week or so as our RFS (Rural Fire Service) has been doing preventative burning to lower the fuel load before summer.

Unfortunately my asthma doesn’t distinguish between deliberate burning and accidental burning.

How would y'all compare reverse to non reverse Ergonomics when sitting?

I always sit on this stool and have the curve of the lower bout on my right leg, with it on the bar of the stool. Left leg out, they're pretty much the same for me at this point.
Like this.

I play almost exclusively sitting. Here’s how they stack up in my experience…

Not drastically different.

The NR has a slightly more comfortable forearm area and my right hand naturally falls pretty much to the neck pickup. I’m six foot tall with average length arms. The reach to first position and the lower registers is comfortable, playing in the higher registers is easy and not crowded by my body.

The reverse is about an inch shorter reach at most when seated with the bass resting on my right thigh. My right hand naturally falls just north of the neck pickup, slightly closer to the neck than the NR. My forearm is forced slightly towards the neck by the body shape of the upper bout in the forearm area. The reach to first position and the lower registers is just as comfortable as the NR and as noted slightly shorter (maybe an inch at most). Playing the higher registers is easy and not crowded by my body.

For comparison, my Fender Telecaster has a much shorter reach to first position when seated, by as much as a couple of inches. This makes lower register first position playing easier (not that the others are hard by any stretch) but conversely makes upper register playing between the 12 fret to the neck heel feel much more crowded, in interference with my body and noticeably more difficult to play. My right hand wants to naturally fall to the neck heel when my forearm is resting on the upper bout.

Of the bunch, I like the NR best for sitting and the standard reverse better for standing. Both are far better for my ergonomic needs than the Fender Telecaster.

The ugly duck! Have fun - I felt like I was missing something so I had to buy another bass to fill the void, more next week :woot:
curious now…..hey, ever play the Outlaw live? it’s got a pretty massive low end… fun bass! jacked up the phaser during “Stop dragging…” and it just knocked it outta the park…what a blast, thx for letting me hang on to it for a while!!:thumbsup::)
