Here's my one slight issue with Babicz. It's right-hand biased. If strung left-handed, one of the intonation sliders blocks the third bolt, if you want to remove it. It's not symmetrical in that way. So if you want to take out that bolt for some reason, you have to slide the slider thingy back out of the way. If strung right-handed, it stays clear.
although I’m a southpaw myself, from reading your posts, I’m soooo happy my first teacher urged me to play right handed…..

It would need to be reverse threaded, but otherwise that would be a logical solution to a chronic issue. I hope they are not going the RIC (bridge) route of "we're not changing it because... it's vintage" (regardless of it initially being a bad design) ...

Why would thread direction matter?

Didn't someone here screw the Hipshot Supertone bridge plate to the body by drilling holes in it and screwing the bridge plate to the body? @GBassNorth maybe?
Yeppers! It was the only viable option left if I wanted to use the Hipshot bridge I had.

String-thru or a claw will solve 99% of the issues.
Yeppers! Except the Greco claw solution creates a second issue with a three point bridge - the bridge will eventually slide backwards and mess up intonation because the strings aren’t pulling it forward. Not a big issue, takes 2 seconds to bump it back into position and is only needed a couple of times a year, but could be quite embarrassing if it fell off the bass during a gig. A string through option would probably work best with the three point since it provides a lot of down force.

I've had some fun installing the EMGs. They're solderless unless you can't use the included output jack, which is too short for the modern Thunderbirds which use the barrel jack. So that part needs to be soldered. I'm not set up for that, so I just put in the included jack and left it loose. Then I realized I have no need for a tone knob, so I redid it and boom. Before and after:

I've done the same thing before

For installs with EMG stuff, where I couldn't/didn't want to do it that way - that have barrel jacks - I've attached wires in the correct paces on the jack, with connectors for plugging into the EMG harness, keeping everything plug & play.
Also done the same for non-EMG pickups plugging into EMG electronics :)

*Usually* makes my ocd happier that way :rollno:

Why would thread direction matter?

You would need to screw-in the female (ahem) anchor one direction so you could screw in the male (ahem) post the other direction. That would be the functional way to segregate the two.

I feel like I've seen y'all praising these pickups. Asking 5, the rule of beat up CL tells me this child probably go 2-3. Is that worth it? I have no idea, but I know if anybody would care about this stuff it'd be y'all.

An example of short-sighted design.

If Hullabaloo played much stuff like this, I know why I never watched it.

I religiously watched Hullabaloo, Shindig, Where the Action Is, Ready Steady Go, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and The Ed Sullivan Show then - for the bands! :bassist:

I like that. But still requires soldering to the end of the barrel jack, right?

I keep forgetting that detail - a very admirable effort for developing your ambidextrous skills.

If you are a fan of Entwistle's T-Bird tone - and if you are here, you probably are - you absolutely must check out the just-released 10 disc release called "Who's Next | Lifehouse." Four of the discs are from live shows recorded in 1971 - 4.26.1971 (The Young Vic, London) and 12.13.71 (Civic Auditorium,San Francisco) and just after The Ox started using T-Birds with his Hi-Watt stack. To my ears, these are, by far, the best sounding commercially released live Who shows from Entwistle's T-Bird era. The San Francisco show, in particular, just rips and Entwistle's bass tone kills. Highly recommended!
Who is this Entwistle you speak of? :smug:

I love that Fender Tele G&L bass Geo made. The others are pretty sweet too.
