Not a lot of armor on that warrior.

We use window mount ac units in our 110 year old row house. They come with foam rubber strips for extra insulation. Insta-mute.

I love the sound of foam when at home on a few basses, but whenever I try it live what I like disappears and the mute gets yanked after one song. Possibly with slightly more intelligence I could adjust the amp, but I'm more a set it and forget it person and don't like to get into knob wars when playing or trying to be playing.

Bomb sexy bass - it came out so nice!
Are you detouring up to Seattle with it before going to Sicily? My Blue one needs some company :D
thank you!! a trip to SEA before the next GTG is in the works as I wanna visit some buds up there, I.can bring (return; you are so awesome) the Electra and bring the BaCH so you can check it out…, funny you mention detours…all my life going there through Italian airports (Milan, Rome, Naples)…curiously this time it’s much cheaper to fly to Malta (through Munchen) and take the 45 minute hydrofoil ride to Syracuse….go figure….

I have a 1977 II and a 1990 IV. I find the 1990 pups to have slightly more boom in the bottom end, they still sound fantastic though. I do know those two years pups were made by different factories but I don’t know that they are really any different in sound. My 1977 has ancient flats on it and my 1990 has new boomers on it. Plus IIRC the pickup locations are in slightly different spots. So there are enough variables to pretty much make a direct comparison of the two basses irrelevant.

If I were going to reverse engineer one pup it would be the 1977 because I believe that was the first generation of the Greco birds and I think that year the Tbirds were positioned as a premium offering from Greco vs later years where they were in the normal Greco line up. So possibly more time and money involved in making the older pups, just a guess.
could be anything…. settings, tone wood, barometric pressure that day….have you measured Rdc on both? that should give some clues…

Does anyone know whether the Greco are ceramic or alnico magnets?

That's going to be an awesome trip, it looks like Frank and I will travel to Europe in spring of '25, probably to London, we'll see the Imperial War Museum, then to Paris via the chunnel and eventually Normandy.
Send me a PM about your trip up here, it'll be great to see you!

I got more into it after watching Stu Cook in the CCR in Europe movie. I’m trying to get better with using my hands for greater flexibility (mute/no mute). For whatever reason it seems easier and more natural on flatter radius fretboards.
