Yeah, April Wine made a lot of great music.
It's a shame, because it was built as a musical instrument. It's unlikely someone's going to bang out a set or two with that bass ever again.

The sidewinder in the middle position is an important detail, dissimilar pickups next to each other gives really great results. It should sound fantastic. Individual volumes is a great feature. Three concentric pots, each being vol/tone gives amazing flexibility as well but does make tone changes on the fly a bit more cumbersome.
Super flexible, but also not as gig friendly if you like to make tone changes on the fly.
Will sound great and gig very nicely. Will also be interesting to hear your thoughts on how the sidewinder responds to a tone change vs the standard humbuckers. My recollection with the Tbird sidewinder is it wasn’t as bass heavy as the modern bird pups.

I can appreciate the specificity and execution of your concept as a designer/builder being one, but I feel any one of us at the T-bird GTG who previewed/played it knows a good bass when they play/hear it. (and as you've heard - we all agree) I've been lucky too, as much as you work for and hope the final result will be a killer instrument, you never really know until you finally play it through a nice amp. Having it surprise you how good it is is where true satisfaction for your efforts resides.
My friend had the first one, but he probably picked it up in the import section. I don't remember seeing it in stores.
One band I was in right before covid was going to cover Take A Long Line, but we imploded before we could finish learning it.
