I grew up in that era of car racing and know the Daytona GT - after watching that very cool 'upgraded' clone on the Leno site - I think that Cobra Daytona GT has become my favorite retro race-car. My favorite view is that unique tail-section. I was wrong in my early post - it was a white field & black #41 like that one.

It is a fantastic body style. I wish i had been around to see them. I count myself fortunate to have seen some of the early drag cars that still exist

Kit or real? A real Cobra Daytona is mucho dinero.

The top one (blue) looks real. The white one looks like a kit. They could both be kits.

Neat body style, and a Chevy Cheetah is very similar

I saw a Cheetah race back when I was a kid. It made a huge impression on me. It is one of my favorite insane car designs.

It seems like the modshop basses are based on factory seconds. They have a disclaimer about minor finish flaws. Pretty smart idea IMO.

I can't help but feel that selling instruments with obvious flaws just cheapens the brand. This is especially true for premium brands.

How about this one?

The next gen Falcon XD was approaching so Ford Aus MD Edsel Ford requisitioned the last 400 XC hardtops be painted Sno White with Bold Blue stripes, Cobra badges and number plaques. They were a clearance special with either a 302 or 351, auto or manual. But if you were a racer you could tick ‘option 97’ (I think) and get the homologated parts for series production racing and Bathurst. As seen above a tribute to Alan Moffat’s Bathurst race car. No 1 because he won the 1977 Bathurst.

The road version with Mr Ford.
Even as a Holden fan, these Cobra’s were a very good looking thing. They turned a lot of heads.

Considering it's a non-authentic hybrid... it looks more classy in white.

In the Jay Leno vid above - at 7:37 they show a pic of one of the only 4 made... the one I saw looked exactly like that down to the decal.., so it was most likely a clone.

Speaking of clones, I'm gonna start cloning deer. I wanna make a quick buck.

Ok so im suddenly learning a bit about MIJ pickups.

the pickups in my new 76 Ibanez are made by Maxon and this is the same peepholes that made the Greco pickups.. correct?

the Ampeg BA210 is the most accessible amp in the howse… so I plugged in…

the pickups in my Ibanbacker are amazing. The neck is full and boomy and the bridge is nasty and punchy.

so I’m assuming @Engle already knew this with his el degas…. And I would think the same maxons?

imnsho Rickenbacker pickups are fine and dandy but these Maxon are a cut above, they aren’t trying to be Ric pickups which is probably why they shine.

I didn’t feel as much difference between the different thunderbird pickups I have and have tried maybe because they are of similar construction.

Les Pauls and especially ES335s are what I think of when I think of what an electric guitar should look like. Always have. I don't know why. Strats and Teles never come to mind so much as an abstract image.
