Thunderbird Club

It wouldn't scare them, but while there are some basses and guitars for sale and they do have a demo room unless someone is really serious about buying it may not be the best idea. The other issue with it is that the shop is in Bellevue, across Lake Washington and the traffic makes it an unpleasant trip at best - and then you realize you're in Bellevue and that just makes it worse!
Named for the NY hospital? Or the other way 'round?

You had to lift the engine to change plugs in the Monza. Great design. Not.
This Chevy Monza was a weapon.

So, in the short time since I got the Lull NRT, it has become my number one player. My P and J basses sound a little anemic now and they are both killer guitars in their own right (one's a Nordy vJ5 and the other is a Fender AVRI '58 P). Anyway, the tone produced by the Lull is so pleasurable to play and to hear, it's kind of addictive.

My part-time diggs over the next six months or so- not my place but a drummer brother’s of mine. Will be developing and recording original material, along with a few choice covers-

Though my poisons for that first orientation day were these - for the title and third tracks of Haphazard Minds, rest assured that this new lady in my life will soon be joining their ranks after I upgrade her with a recently arrived Hipshot Xtender-

Note the port light on the upper left of my TC Electronics rig and the slight curvature of the deck under the T-Bird indicating that I do indeed live on a sailboat-

Super Sweet set up! Very inspirational music setup and recording equipment looks top notch.
If you can’t create and capture magic in that environment …Reminds me of David Gilmores latest endeavor!

Those pickups, not too surprising, they have a very full response, I've been an endorsing artist since 2008.
I think they'll still make you an NRT but they don't advertise them, you have to ask. I think yours, being made by Mike will be worth some $$$ as time goes on.

That's great. Very happy for you, Geoff.

I can't say I want to retire. I think about it some, but figure I will get to the point one day when I know I'm just done with it all. But at this point I don't want that to be anytime soon. My wife retired early and would be happy if I did, but I just don't have the urge to do so. I also don't want to wait so long all I can do just sit in a rocker in poor health and wait for my ticket to be called. I've got to get out West before that happens. Several times maybe.

There’s usually a spare room here at Casa Roadkill.

Though I retired in 2018, in a sense I’m not, having finished a novel January 9 (my birthday and the same day I received my first Thunderbird) and in the process of editing pages 210-451. And there are music projects-

So I can appreciate your post- I might have continued in my previous profession if it weren’t for a change in leadership and subsequent paradigms which I couldn’t abide by-
Happy birthday!

In 2015, I was looking to 2022 as the year. Then the wind shifted in 2016. I have no clue when I’ll be able to retire. I’ll just leave it at that.
I can't retire now and do what I want to do. The good thing is that I like my job a lot most days. A lot. And it pays better than any work I had before. It is the kind of work I can see doing part time for a long time.

Ok

Gilmour is a favorite of mine and a big influence as a bassist and guitarist- but you should check out his first and eponymous solo album David Gilmour featuring Rick Wills’ stellar bass lines-

shag that horse poopie, we can build one them under $600. Name dropping entwhistle in the description doesn’t make it worth as much as an Alembic.

Perhaps you could build me an Explorer bass sometime? I’m currently having a 1985 Gibson restored in it’s original Alpine White after it was scalped and defaced by a previous owner-

No factory fretless 'Birds that I'm aware of. Mine started life as a Pro IV, with an active preamp and whatever those pickups were. I hated the electronics and hated the frets. The frets felt huge to me, and I was used to small frets. At the time, I didn't have a fretless but wanted one. The solution to the problem was obvious.
Not only did you hate the electrics, a lot left the factory with a coil tapping wire soldered to the volume pop so they buzzed! The weird part is coil tapping is a standard feature yet these pickups had one tap wire instead of two AND the bass was never sold as having a coil tap feature…
