Thunderbird Club

Really cool George, tell me about the neck.
It’s a 2012 Fender Telecaster neck (square heel). Beefy but not obnoxious in size, very comfortable if you like a precision style neck. Maple on maple with a vintage tint clear coat. One of the few Fender necks I’ve played with no noticeable dead spots.

We’re due for a visit.
My door is open any time for club members. Come on down!

That is a new source from my research not that long ago. I’m going to have a VP with a broken neck routed and fitted for an Epi IV neck I have and make a 60’s II. Put a Gibson vintage reissue in it, paint it Pelham Blue and see what it’s like.
It’s a Gluff body, same body supplier as my BlingBird body. Top notch quality. Mine is semi hollow, not sure if these are.

That is going to be so cool. "Fire" as the youngin's say. Vintage cherry burst has my vote, though we're not voting...:D The olf Fender 2Tone burst might look great as well. So many good possibilities. I heard of one guy in OR who painted one in Flamingo Pink.:smug: ...And it turned out great.
I do like the vintage cherry burst and it’s not a color you ever see on a Tbird, unfortunately it’s not a popular Fender color. I’m really wanting this bird to scream FENDER when you look at it. It’s kind of a subtle middle finger to those close minded players or bandmates that raise an eyebrow if you walk into a room with a Tbird. Um , Antigua burst would fit the bill too, but that color really turns my stomach when it ages, looks good fresh though.

Instead of doing the stupid thing and searching...didn't a couple of you boil or otherwise clean some rounds? Chuck and Irv, I'm thinking. Chuck mentioning boiling and Irv some kind of alcohol (not that kind Stealth), in a tube?

I've got a set I might like to try to breath a little life in before too long to see how it goes. I don't think I have any PVC around, but will coiling and boiling or soaking in something work well enough to take time to do it?
I did it once with an expensive nearly dead set of Optima Gold rounds. It brought them back to life for about two days then they were deader than a door nail. Don’t waste your time.

True that- upon further examination-

With that said, this was my other temptation-

But- unless I get really drunk and visit my German Warwick bro- it ain’t happening!

For a minute I thought I saw a large crack in the body of your T-Bird! Ha!
Your Band looks like lot of fun! If I ever get out to the Seattle area I will check out The Nasty Habits!
You did see a crack on the body of the Thunderbird. Something like that.

You trying to cause a problem here?

This is what a Precision should look like.

Save the pepperoni for pizza.

Mine looks like that. Of course, the "P" stands for "poseur" because mine is a 2010 Road Worn, not a 1957 Precision, but that's just details.

That is a proper pickguard. I’d go black if it were mine, but much better than tort.

Thunderbird Grill & Brewhouse?
Well… My son and I have thought about a Friday to Sunday restaurant up in the village where the mountain house is. Santa Maria tri-tip, baby back ribs, fried and grilled chicken. And my fried pork chops. And a burger, of course. He would run it. I would cook with his help (he was a cook at a great Mexican restaurant in Flagstaff when he was in college). Just a pipe dream at this point.
