Thunderbird Club

Cool idea but maybe a marketing gimmick? This is Chuck's expertise but according to the specs: The design architecture of the Valvebucker circuit is noteworthy, making use of sweet spots found from outside the typical operational points of vacuum tubes, by using relatively low voltages,” Ruokangas writes.
I may be wrong but I don't think voltage starved, tube pre-amps sound as good as the high-voltage tube circuits but if you used a high voltage tube preamp it would be too hot to contain the heat inside of a bass or guitar.

My internet friend here in Finland has a five string fretted version (it was the first Ruokangas made with that system) and he says it works beatifully.

Put it in as a booster to the Digitech Tonedriver I use as my cleanish "normal" tone (gain at minimum and mixed with a low passed clean signal). Works like a charm and with the tilt-EQ you can do some EB3 impressions with or without the Tonedriver on.

I also tried it in a last pedal position before IR box (or an amp) as an enhancher and it worked there too. That means I hafta get another one too...

The obligatory soundclip. Non-reverse with three different pickup variations.

That would look good on Ken's board.

Just scored tix for PJ Harvey coming to the SF Masonic in October. While her current and previous records are not necessarily the stuff she does that I like, it is on a Friday night and I can always hope she’ll bring out some really early stuff as well as stuff from “Stories from the City,…” , “Let England Shake” and “White Chalk”

…marketed as “An evening with…” makes me hope for a long or split set with no opener. Maybe that make for time for a lot of older material.

Which Mustang? Pic?
It’s a 2015/2016 MIM PJ (now called the Player). It was their first of several new Mustang models as they were restarting the line with shorties becoming so popular. It’s my travel bass. Perfect for playing through my little Rumble when I have to stay in hotels. I had to replace the awful tuners with Hipshots. It’s a nice playing bass, but not worth much or very interesting. I will say that the J pickup in it is better sounding than the noiseless J pickup in my 7ender Deulxe PJ with the J neck.

Now if I could just set the Wayback Machine to ‘83 and get back my ‘68 that I sold….
