Thunderbird Club

When I was 16 I almost got one of these as my first good bass. Same color and everything. It was in a pawn shop and priced at like $275, something like that. I begged my dad for a loan of $300, (kinda a lot of money in 1983). Finally got the money and went to get it. Tried to haggle and asked if they’d take $250 for it. They said they’d check the file and see what they paid for it.

They came back and said it was mis-marked and that they couldn’t even let it go for the price shown and it went up to a price out of my ability to get it.

I was destroyed!

Ended up buying some P-clone “Electra”. Basically as I recall a piece of junk that ended up with a bad neck. Or probably just in need of a real setup but I was just a dumb kid. Think I traded it away with a ‘73 Duster (with a lot of good parts but with big problems my wallet couldn’t afford to deal with) for a pretty raw ‘68 Satellite that was reliable but pretty trashed all along the right side of the body.

anybunny ever use stainless flatwounds?

I'm searching for a 5 string set and while I'd love a 40-125 set of nickle, it's slim pickins on 5 string sets...

I may even go rounds..... stainless or nickle...
No. But Dunlop makes a set. They are expensive though. But then again, they likely last for several years. I like Dunlop strings.

Jeff and I saw a guy playing one live fairly recently. It sounded great.

That's a pass without question. If it were in really good shape and not jacked around with, that price could be fair.
What were they thinking? Jacked around is an understatement. At least the headstock hasn’t been broken.

I’m seeing some strange things lately as used Thunderbird prices have risen. It’s like sellers know that what they have isn’t all that desirable and figure they can off it for more coin than it’s worth to the unsuspecting.

Can you brush up on FL law, international law, anything...and find some way to stop Mike from doing this? He has to be breaking some kind of law somewhere.
While it may be ill-advised, I don't think it's illegal for me to "break yer heart, yer achy"...NVM.
