Well, having this in my hands I can easily say that this whole neck thing you guys are on about is pretty minor, had to really look to see a difference - there is, but seriously. My first impressions of it are that I like it better than my white Vintage Pro, the neck is very slightly thinner so I already like how it plays better, the pickups are 760s and this bass will stay stock with the possible exception of me airbrushing the raised portion of the headstock black. Glad they didn't do blue 'cause I'd be ordering one.
TD;DR NGL it's a really nice bass!

Coolest husband ever had this show up today as well - it is stunning.

Nice on both accounts - I liked the red not shouting RED - it's a more sophisticated hue. And I've always liked the one pu Firebirds with all that space on the body. Pretty colour too - matches your coaster (if that's what it is...)

Maybe more of a collectors bass - but a pretty cool, essentially NOS Gibson-related bass from 1966. As someone who appreciates restoring basses from the '60s, especially the late '60s - I'd consider their asking price pretty reasonable ATC.

They’re stunning. Even my wife agrees. They hang on the wall in the home office she took over and pushed me upstairs to another room when I work at home. She likes looking at them.

That doesn't explain pickup placement.

It could be they have some jiggs or equipment that can be reused without retooling so they went with that.
