Thunderbird Club

I really wish they had put HOV lanes in instead of the toll lanes on MoPac. The toll lanes are "express" but if there's any real traffic they're also expensive - and often not much faster.
They added pay lanes near me. If you don’t have 2 in the car, it can cost $9 to go 2-3 miles during commute hours.

Ok vanity plates for the corvette…

The plates I will get are limited to 6 characters…. Can’t use a dash or a space… lame… I could get a plate that allows 8 characters if needed but it’s not as cool.

It’s a red 1992 C4 LT-1 Corvette…..

can’t think of anymore right now

"DUBYAH" is just begging for attention - quite possibly the wrong kind. (That's not a political statement, just acknowledgement of how people react to certain things.)
I'd go with "92TACOS" out of that lot.

I learned many years ago from Michael Dunn to use 0000 steel wool and lemon oil on fingerboards.
If you apply oil to rosewood, and it doesn’t absorb, you just end up wiping most of it off. Usually it looks nicer and smells good.
Michael built some very nice instruments:

0000 is all I've used on frets in the past.

Everyone has their own take on fb's. I also believed for many years that fb's needed occasional oiling to keep the wood 'nourished'... but it's just not true other than a purely cosmetic consideration. I only use 0000 steel wool for fret polishing using a metal fb/fret shield. For fb’s, I use a flat blade (like an exposed Ulfa snap-blade) to skim the top layer of gunk off the fb wood. Goes quick, does the job neatly and avoids steel-wool fibers getting in the grain or anywhere else.

I suspect that depends on whose fretboard and when it was made. I've definitely seen instruments with dried out fretboards. But it makes sense for newer FBs not to need oiling.

Have to admit I Didn’t watch the whole 49 minutes but I still enjoy some Roxy Music occasionally too. Bryan Ferry had a great voice. Their Bass player(s) was good. Phil Manzanera was (is) a great guitarist too. He played a nice Firebird 3 pickup, whammy bar!

Too hot for that jacket. But that's a great wrap.

This discussion about fretboard conditioning is humorous to me. I use the F1 about once a year or so to clean to them. Gunk always comes off when I do that. I don’t worry so much about them looking “moisturized.” When I got the ‘21 NR and took it to the ‘22 get together, I got comments about how dry the fb looked. I hadn’t cleaned it up before taking it. I play that bass a lot. And it, like all my basses, are never in their cases except when I transport them. I’m looking at it now as it’s hanging above the computer monitor where I work. It still looks dry. Even though I’ve cleaned it a couple times since that summer. I need to polish the frets; I probably haven’t ever done that to it before. I’ll likely give it a quick pass with my set of fret erasers tonight and do the F1 thing to arrest my OCD.

The EB-2 has been oiled maybe twice in the 40+ years I have owned it. It looks fine to me, although it doesn't come out to play much any more. The hand written serial number and model notation on the f-hole label has completely disappeared in the time I have owned it. The serial number is still perfectly fine where it's stamped into the back of the headstock. I don't know why they did both, except ... Gibson.
