Thunderbird Club

My drum kits are the kind of blue sparkle I like. Done right, a blue sparkle Thunderbird would match pretty well. That blue sparkle is too coarsely speckled. Metallic Green is a little too subtle, although it approaches iridescence and I like it a lot. And there's the sticky feel of poly on the neck and the fact that I just couldn't bond with what is apparently a really good playing 2017 VP.

I'll wait for Gibson to come up with a modern reissue in exotic colors. Or just spend the money on refinishing. The fretless is up and will probably get started in May. Then ...? Willy pulls frets and goes for colors. I'm restrained and just go for colors.

If Marshall wants a drum kit for his music room, I know exactly what color of wrap he will like and where to get it.

While I would prefer a proper metalflake, those seem to be rare in the stringed instrument world. Sparkle is far more common.

I’m sitting in the Phoenix airport right now waiting for my flight home, and what do I see, a Thunderbird…

LOL - you bunch of enablers! Nope, I’m still drooling over that purple sparkle Tbird.

well poopie, if I hadn’t gotten my KB-1 and EB4 and loved them so much I’d probably get both…. Thems nice.

I showed the purple sparkle to Sharon. She said, “I don’t think you need a fifth bass.” I didn’t remind her I have five now. But I was already thinking about getting one re-painted in purple metalflake…

Well crap, they don’t expect them in until JUNE so I guess it could be justified to save up.

order now!

are both colours zzz exclusive?
