Thunderbird Club

I completed the build of two more bass guitars today.
These had been brewing in the background for almost a year

You make beautiful basses sir!

Haha thank you. Well, it's not my day job. I build bass guitars in my spare time. The time I used to spend on playing in a band and practicing/rehearsing, I spend on building bass guitars these days. I quit playing in a band seven years ago.

Maybe my avatar should say Hobby luthier instead of Amateur luthier?

We had so much fun last night, lots and lots of people, most were dressed in some sort of related outfit.
This was early on while it was still light out.

How cool to have a dance floor set up underneath an M-21 Blackbird.

At the very least Semi Pro!

It's a beautiful collection of aircraft - I love visiting!

But does it have Grey Poupon?
I am a proud UC Irvine alumnus. Irvine boarders Newport Beach. My buddy and I were on the Pacific Coast Highway. I stop at a light next to a 450 SL. We’re in my very humble ‘76 Dodge Colt. My buddy rolled down the window and asked the 50 something blond, “pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?” She flipped us off and stepped on it when the light turned green. We still laugh about it every time we get together.

You’re anything but amateur. I will be in touch as I think I want you to build me my retirement bass.

Set your Betamax, VCR or other recording device for Wed at 8PM EST on ABC. On the Country Music Awards (CMAs), a great looking and and newly acquired White 1964 Thunderbird II will get some national TV attention during Chris Stapleton and band's appearance. That was the plan anyway, subject to change I suppose due to other factors. This Thunderbird looks great and apparently is the best of a few already owned. Not often does a Thunderbird get some national attention and vintage white one at that. Hopefully the cameral people know the bass player is part of the band! And did I mention the Kentucky connection?;)
Saw this on SNL…

STRING UPDATE
As many have done here, I’ve settled on EBCF strings as my goto flat. I have them on my capped Goth and they sound great. But after trying these on my Silver Goth…

… I gotta say, they may be my favorite round for deep dark leaning basses (i.e. Goth, 21NR, etc.). Huge bottom end with gobs of punch and grind if the tone knob is rolled off and tons of crystal clear highs as the tone knob is turned up. Really brings a dark bass to life. I suspect they would sound great on an SG/EB style bass as well.
