Thunderbird Club

Yeah. Only reason I changed-and saved-a set of EBCFs on my TBird was that they(EB)came out with a new set that looked interesting: 45/65/80/100. Love 'em. I'll prolly go with a set of them on my Embassy. In a few months/years/decades.

the spare sets of strings in the case were bought when I bought the geetar…

not sure if I bought 3 sets or 5… but I have two left…

Where did you get the chrome control plate from? I’m looking for exactly this on my latest project bass!

I can’t find anyone who sells them any more. I bought two of them years ago on eBay, this is the only one I have left.

There are companies that make chrome p bass control plates but they’re different and larger than these.

best I can suggest is to take a precision Pickguard, cut off the part that you’d like to have as a control plate, and then use it to make a plate from aluminum. Sorry I don’t have a better answer. You could also look at a metal shop and see if they can make one for you

I know what you're thinking. "Did he buy three sets or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a ‘23 Embassy, the most powerful bass in the room, and would blow your G string clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Someone said earlier that the EY’s work better as a pair than a single pup. That would probably influence me to the dual pickup version.

Entirely possible. To me, how one or two (or three) pu's will sound just depends on the specific bass, pu's, pu location, and electronics. I like and play all versions - none are better' than the others... they are all good.

Wide-range humbuckers, you say? I bought a pair of the basses years ago hoping they'd be all I hoped they would. Very hot output and probably the coolest Precision bass there is...BUT! I still go for the Epiphone '64 Thunderbird FIRST.

How much relief do you have on your Thunderbirds?

I am currently at 0.2mm at the 8th fret but I’m curious about how the crowd set their bases up.
Not very much. I stopped measuring. I like a straight neck with no buzzing. I go by sight, sound and feel. Every neck is different so some arbitrary measurement is at best only a starting point IMO.

With you there. I have the SVT and the two Mesas. At some point down the line, I’ll probably add a GKrb just ‘cause. But I certainly don’t need another head.
Who says that?

I understand. Several things I would want as well since it's more than a hobby to us, but just can't reasonably justify more gear.

Go ahead. Make my day.
