I hold back my comment on it’s still birthing itselfFrom what I understand it's still birthing itself, give it a couple days.
There will be basses to play, food to eat and drinks to drink in Seattle soon, regardless of what happens here

The version of the forum software they were running was severely outdated.wonder why all the changes......cost savings?....not enough membership fees?....

Why do you say that?I don’t know about the rest of you.
But this so called upgrade to talk bass seems like a major downgrade.
There is some stuff about the MAC OS that I can't get used to
When doing a migration, it is typical to bring up the new site on a different server or VM. And only then do you change the IP address and go live. This feels like they just ran the updater and said there you go. Hey, maybe they work for those guys up near Seattle. They tend to do that. Why do you say that?
If any part of your frustration is the slowness, I'd expect that to go in away in a couple of days, as V noted. There's a tone of data migrating until the new site is caught up.
I'm not privy to all the conversations, but the software the old version was built on was pretty old. At some point maintenance moves from impractical to nearly impossible. When you upgrade, some features change, and you get the chance to add things people have asked for or you think they want. I'd give it a few weeks and see what you think then. And do let the devs/maintainers know your thoughts via the suggestions link at the top of every page. But, from a professional perspective, I highly recommend the following:wonder why all the changes......cost savings?....not enough membership fees?....
I've wondered at this, but then I have seen this happen in the corporate world. While it can be just a lack of understanding, it can also be the easier/affordable path (especially if you aren't really an IT person and can't pay someone to do it for you), It's also possible the software doesn't have good migration capabilities and the other option is to be shut down for several days. When doing a migration, it is typical to bring up the new site on a different server or VM.
