Thunderbird Club

Ian Dury & the Blockheads from 1977.

I just found another band I think I like!

Everything amazing on that album except Been Caught Steeling otherwise brilliant album.
Yeah, the cheezy cheap keyboard dog bark sample got a little annoying, and the song and video was way overplayed. Stop! Was a much better song, but been caught stealing was the "hit" that got played to death. Great band though, and the album before that with mountain song is excellent too.

I remember Gene saying that when Rush was opening for them they found it odd that Rush didnt party, witch led me to believe that Kiss did. Never been a Kiss fan so I really dont know.
He was referring to banging groupies all night, while rush stayed faithful to their women at home and watched TV all night. I read Genes book, he stayed dry sober, but I don't think his willy ever stayed dry for long.

I don't think it's possible to do what Rush did without being stone cold sober. Same with Frank Zappa. His bad habit was coffee.
ummmm well... That's not entiirrrely accurate. Rush was anything but a sober band. However being brainy guys, they did not go on the downward spiral into heroin and things like that. Ever pay attention to "passage to Bangkok" or see the huge closeup of a dank bud they project on the back screen when they play it live? And geddy even said they were "very high" when they made Caress of steel. Ever read Neil's books? Paid attention to Alex lifesons escapades in Florida while a little bit too sauced? (Sorry lerxt you know I love you). There was some drugs involved, though mostly the good weed. When the doobs or bowls pass around at a rush show, I have partaken, and it just makes the experience connect more. For me at least, as I am apparently cut from similar cloth. Geddy Lee doesn't remember his first big arena show because they had free booze backstage, and were young lightweights at the time. But they had been playing the regional scene so long, apparently it did not affect the performance :)

In interviews, Geddy has said that they always treated the music as a very serious career, and you don't show up to work drunk or high. So they always performed sober.
always is probably an extreme exaggeration ;) I'm sure there were plenty of times they weren't, but these are guys who know their limits, there is a large Grey area between stone cold sober, and sloppy inebriated.

Rush is my favorite band, and what was made public during the Nixon through bush1 years, had to be kept more PG because of the war on drugs and Nancy Reagan's just say no thing. In recent years with all the medical and now recreational legality in many states, it does not have to be hidden from the general population that bands are toking. I thought the same thing about rush when I was a teenager, "no way do these guys use drugs". I also was very sheltered and ignorant when younger, and the scene in cliff em all, where cliff is smoking weed, us teenage Metallica fans thought, " only cliff did "drugs", not the other guys"

What the general population knows is frequently not the whole truth

You may like this one

I think I will want them to come out again.... the bass will get a babicz, too, one day.

Yeah, but do remember that a Babicz or a Hipshot Supertone uses those same body inserts/ferrules too - So if they aren't seated properly, they might pull out with those bridges as well... I'm pretty sure Haji will confirm that... :)

I love Nothing's Shocking, but the album I listen to more than any is the XXX album. Ritual almost never.

Not upset. Just hate that movie/musical.

And I don't get that upset about most things. For example, I don't respond every time people post about bands I don't like. Usually I just scroll past. But I was involved in the conversation a few pages back about musicals.
We need to have a discussion about Cro-Magnon cave dwellers. ;)

Heinekens are great!, I didnt think Frank allowed his crew to indulge on stage but I also have footage of a very stoned looking Terry Bozzio in the dressing room before the show I believe. Could be wrong about that but those boys were waaay out there so its hard to tell.
There is a photo of me looking stoned out of my mind at a party for my brother before he got married. I wasn't stoned, just really exhausted. The droopy expression was about the same, though. If you didn't know I haven't indulged in currently or previously illegal substances for more than 30 years, you would assume that I had just smoked about a pound of weed before that photo. Looks can be deceiving sometimes.

So I take something similar to Ritalin for ADHD. Day of my highschool grad photos I forget to take them… I looked SO STONED. Some of my buddies still laugh at me for it.

I get the same look coming off night shift all week and then I look like that all weekend so people would assume I am stoned 24/7 . But there was that one time I took high school photos and I was completely stoned, mom was not impressed.
