Weren't the DC10s know for BYOB? Bring your own bolt...
my dad. you used to tell the story of reading “All DC-10s Grounded” on the front page of some news publication while flying on a Swissair one…..funny stuff…..not so much when the whole vertical stabilizer would come off dut to poorly understood metal fatigue on a bolt…..yikes….
 
DC-3 ? They’re WW2 era aren’t they?
Yep. Military still used them while I was in the Navy(64-68)and a few years after. Many manufacturers have tried to come up with a replacement but the only a/c that can replace a DC-3 is...another DC-3. There have been quite a few converted to turbo prop power.
EDIT: USAF retired their last ones in 67 except for one special ops group that used one 'til 2008:jawdrop:.
