Thunderbird Club

Yes, Trace and Ashdown are connected.

The company was founded in 1997 by [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], a chief engineer and managing director at Trace Elliot. When Gooday was let go by Trace Elliot's then parent company, Kaman, and prior to Kaman closing the doors to the UK distribution and factory facilities, he had been planning to start his own company. The company was named 'Ashdown' after Gooday's wife's family name, and the logo was constructed from this, his passion for cars and the Austin-Healey motor badge.
Thanks for the info!

“If I wasn’t so humble I’d be perfect”.
Jaco: Mr Zawinul, I was at the (Weather Report) concert tonight. I've been following your music since Cannonball Adderley, and I really love it.

Joe: So, what do you want?

Jaco: I just wanted to tell you I've been a great fan for many years. My father was a Cannonball fan, and I would like tp play some of my music for you.

Joe: Oh really? What's your name?

Jaco: My name is Jaco Pastorius III, and I'm the greatest bass player in the world.

Joe: Get the fu*k out of here!

@Chucky Stiletti any of this of interest? Clearing out my dad’s old garage stuff.

LOL - I think I read somewhere that John Entwistle was being interviewed by someone and the interviewer referred to John as “one of the best bass players of all time”. John tersely corrected him and said, “THE best bass player of all time”.
Maybe humbleness is inversely proportional to skill level. Which would explain why I’m so humble on bass, a complete lack of skill. ;)

Hello T-bird enthusiasts ! Just picked up a really awesome 79 Ebony Bi-Cen T-bird. Amazing bass. I’ll post pics later this week. I want to gig with it but I can’t seem to find a suitable gig bag for it. I’m sure this has been asked many times before but any suggestions? The headstock is longer than an epiphone bird. Any help is appreciated

Who did you buy it from? At one point, there was a member here who had all but one that were reportedly produced. Others have mentioned purchasing’79 ebony birds. Either he is liquidating, or more were produced than we thought.

Honestly, I would never put a '79 in a gig bag of any kind. That headstock is big, and at the nut there is not a lot of material there, this is almost asking for a break - I have two '76s one's broken/repaired.

Congrats on finding that elusive Bird. I asked the same question on this forum a while back. Based on the feedback I got I purchased a Gator Icon gig bag. My 2018 T.Bird fits snugly and securely. It's kinda pricey, but it offers great protection.

The headstock on a 2018 is quite different from a '79, it's smaller and thicker, much less prone to being broken.
