Thunderbird Club

Not a new Thunderbird. But still cool. New appliance Thursday! The old microwave died, the old oven wouldn’t go above 350, and the igniter went out on the old stove. The module for the oven was no longer available and the igniter repair was going to cost more than the stove was worth. Sometimes it’s better to bite the bullet. She who must be obeyed said it was time.

Our Air Con just died. All the blades on the fans in the outside unit flew off causing a hell of a racket. Service man says he has never seen anything like it. I don’t always enjoy being unique! I guess the Aussie sun degraded it over time. It went in during 2005, so nearly 20 years.

The Mrs insists that a new A/C is a requirement. So that is underway.

As mentioned earlier yesterday when picking up my Portaflex amp I stumbled across a GC Clearance sale on a bass I’ve been eyeing for a while. A brand new Epiphone Jack Casady for a price lower than many of the used ones I’ve been looking at. Played it and was very impressed, so I snagged it for about $500 out the door. This one’s very light at 7 pounds 6 ounces, no neck dive and no obvious flaws or damage. A unique and useable sound, plenty low when needed and plenty of bite when needed.

Factory rounds will probably get changed to something else, what are other JC players stringing with these days?
Looks great! Is that one of those Sparkly Burgandy ones?

20 yrs is a long time for any appliance - you did well.

You are suffering from an embarrassment of cool gear! I like the pg w/Epi icon. I know many people remove it but it's classic so I wouldn't. Only thing I might do is darken the fb wood... lots of options there. CAR (or whatever Epi called it) is always nice.

I really want to find an original pg and hardware for my JC, but it will need modding for the Dark Stars. Black on black?

We like KitchAid appliances at the other house so that’s what we decided to go with. Can’t beat Samsung prices. But the research I did showed you get what you pay for. The new oven and stove are US made, whatever ever that means these days.
We did research after our almost 40 y/o JennAir cooktop died and got a KitchenAid to replace it. The GE microwave is aging out, but is part of an oven wall unit, and we’re told they only come as a set. (The oven works fine and is easy to work on). I’d as soon get a countertop microwave but Sharon’s thinking replacement. If we do, I’m leaning hard toward KitchenAid.

Durn commies.

I was just wondering today whether there were still any of these on the road - or even surviving as recognizable automobiles. The only people I knew who bought one hadn't driven it a week before a wing mirror and door handle fell off.

I just watched a YouTube vid about "ugly cars" and the Ugo was one. I get that it was cheaply made/low quality... but compared to really ugly cars it actually is not that bad looking. It's simple, utilitarian and purposeful in design - but there are far uglier cars that have been produced.

It already has the holes, so could see if I like it. No harm, no foul. It's just money. I hope Mike didn't faint or feel compelled to hit the PBW.
I don't have any serous interest in a JC. Reasons: (1) I have my Ibanez AGB200 semi-hollow[poor man's EB-2]. (B).The demos I've heard don't float my boat-for the sound I want.(III) Mufunzalo.
I'm outta PBW, but I'm hitting the Salted Caramel Whiskey 'cos I have some-and I can. :smug:

It was more boring and utilitarian looking than ugly.

We've have two Samsung fridges. One we bought at the other house and one was already here. I would not buy another either. Their ice makers are junk and were useless not right after warranty ran out on both. But I have heard this is not just a problem with Samsung.
just bought Samsung washer dryer set….certainly looks the part…
