Good comparison - I respect David Sanborn. He plays what can be considered 'smooth jazz' or 'adult contemporary' music, both fair assessments. He had a cool late '80s musician-centric TV show hosting many jazz heavy hitters - he was a contributor to his craft and a champion for broadening support for music. KG found his star niche and many, many people liked him enough to make him quite wealthy while other more talented musicians just get by. Never having been put in that position personally, I wouldn't know what that's like, and who cares? More power to him.

I did happen to see David Sanborn about 7-8 years ago now at Jazz Alley here in Seattle, an excellent show and beautiful venue, Time a visit here with a show, they serve a very good dinner as part of the evening, I do think you'd enjoy it, everybody that's anybody in Jazz plays there.

Sounds great - I love attending a good jazz performance. Last I saw/head in SF was Marcus Miller at the SF Jazz Center. A stellar show of a great musician/player at a great modern (recently completed) SF venue in the heart of the city.

Some great music last night, seeing a friend's band. One band's bass was the Fender with mudbucker. The last band was really good. Just this girl on bass and vocals, and a drummer. She was incredibly talented. And this Kramer aluminum neck bass was going through two amps, a Sunn Concert Bass through a 215 and an Orange Terror Bass through a 410. The sound was massive.

Massive may be an understatement!
Two rigs, (15’s mic’d plus two 410’s and dual amps) on what looks like an indoor night club size stage and venue. Would have loved to have been in that audience, I’d bet you could feel every note from anywhere in the room.
What’s the name of the band?

I don't have the 410s, but I do have a double amp setup in my garage. Sunn Concert Bass into 215 and a Sunn 200S into 215. Just a tad overkill unless you like playing the equivalent of the old vibrating football game with garage contents.
