I tried doing both for a while after taking a 20+ years break from bass playing but hockey was actually getting in the way and my wife was very supportive.
It's an ex-Pro IV in trans black, which, with the mahogany showing through, is a very dark brown close up.

When my son was born I gave up band and just did solo projects in my spare time and hockey never got in the way because I preferred to play late games so I wouldnt miss family time but now he is a teenager and one of hell of an impressive goalie himself and he is well beyond that age where he spends time with mom and dad so once again Daddy gets to rock

Hockey and lacross are the perfect blend of rough without near as much random brain injury. Other body parts are more expendable.

For the most part but even at my level, not very high, I've sustained a few concussions over the years. Being run when you're completely not expecting it really sucks. Another reason I hung up my skates. I just play open hockey and some charity games these days. Playing with former pros/NHLers is much safer than 50 year old wannabes that act like they still have a shot at the bigs.
It was about the amp actually, the bird is some years old already.

Removed the electronics, installed a pair of 9k2 Chinabuckers wired V-V, replaced the black hardware with chrome (no-name high mass bridge and Hipshot lic tuners) ... and removed 'TBird PRO-IV' from the truss rod cover.
There was the gold anniversary and the vintage burst.
Pretty much all the colours are good - it is being a `bird that makes them awesome. But white is cool.
[soapbox] I can't say about lacrosse, but hockey has a high incidence of brain injury. How many concussions has Sidney Crosby had now? There is a growing body of evidence that concussion leads to degenerative brain diseases later in life. But nearly all sports have some risk of brain injury. I would even include golf and curling even though the brain injury in those sports comes from excessive consumption of alcohol as opposed to trauma. Each participant in a sport needs to evaluate their own risk/reward trade-off of the health benefits of sport vs. brain injury. [/soapbox]
Brain diseases and injuries are terrible and as things stand, there is not currently any way to restore function that has been lost.

I don't know that much about hockey, to be perfectly honest. I played rugby and American football, and I'm convinced that it did damage. My son didn't slam his head into people who were bigger than he was like I did. I never had an official concussion. Even so, it can't have been good. I'm very happy that the kid never had the urge to do that kind of thing like his father.

All this glue talk is crazy. The idea is not to glue the insert in place. The insert has ribs (not just for your pleasure) to catch wood and hold as long as the hole is a force fit. The idea is to glue fresh wood (toothpicks) into the holes where the inserts were so you can pound the inserts back into a slightly smaller and now force fit hole. Wood glue will create a sufficiently strong bond between the toothpicks and the body wood (the claim is the glue joint is actually stronger than the surrounding wood).
Epoxy - down right messy and can destroy the finish if not carefully done. Might seep into the bolt thread area and make it impossible to fully raise or lower the bridge.
Gorilla glue - even more of a mess than epoxy and just as harmful to the finish. This is an expanding glue and if not very very carefully applied will seep out above the insert and onto the finish.
Crazy glue - as noted, very quick drying and not great at joining dissimilar or porous materials like wood and metal.
Wood glue - cheap, easy to use, water based and wipes off the bass finish with no harm, bonds wood to wood very well.

I played lacrosse for two years in high school. Always a narrow bean of a guy, I once got full-on cross-checked by a dude considerably larger than me while near the edge of the field. My helmet, most of my gear, and my stick were launched hilariously into the air along with my 140 lb still-living carcass to the other side of the edge of the field.
Nonplussed, I was on my feet scrambling for my pads and stick, and oh yeah my helmet...
One of my team mates ran up and said don"t move, my dad's a doctor, etc... apparently it looked pretty horrible! Lol. I was fine. The mesh pattern of my uniform jersey had gotten transferred into my skin by the impact of the other player's stick, and remained there, for days, in blood red.

And yes about wood glue, +1 on Gaolee' s remark... some Epoxies are great at bonding dissimilar materials, i.e., West System and some of their fairing fillers. But if you want the joint to be what it originally was, you have to employ more wood... wood glue and toothpicks, yessiree.
Conrats. I suspected it was about the amp.
Is it a brand new one? Is that why you had to wait? Are they in short supply?
You will be happy with the Fusion 550. I have had one for about four years and love it. I use it's little brother MB Fusion 500 sometimes too these days, but the Fusion 550 has a little more b@lls IMO.
Not sure about the hissing you mention- my Fusion 550 and MB Fusion 500 are pretty quite (except when they are meant to be loud- which they sure can be).
Might be worth getting it checked out?
