I think about it occasionally. The thought passes without a ripple. Something about a J just leaves me cold. You can get great sounds out of them, they are all over the place for a reason, and I just flat don't want one. Go figure. I suppose it saves me some money.

That's cool - one of my favorite bands favors a (Fender) baritone guitar - Chicago based Tortoise.

I saw Tortoise in 1995 touring on their first album, the one before this one. I had not heard any of their music and went on a whim with a friend at the last minute. It was at the Khyber Pass in Philly a super small club that catered to indie music. That show still stands out as an eye opening head expander as to musical possibilities. Kind of like seeing Sun Ra but in a much more tangible sense. It's way up there at the top of my musical discovery memories. Beautiful, timeless music and crazy talented players.

I'll say, I've seen them twice. Over the night three of them take turns playing drums and they were all great in different styles. The bass player was the only one who stayed on bass (P-bass and a Fender VI), the rest kept changing chairs playing guitar, drums, vibes, marimba and various keys. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen them live.

She does, but she is studying to be a music teacher and needs to be able to instruct kids on the basics of woodwinds and brass. Playing a horn in a community band would help keep up her chops.

I played and saw many shows at the Khyber in that time frame. My roommate was a sound guy there. Fun spot for sure.

Nope, it's a well considered business decision on Lull's part and I understand why, I can't put forth all of what was involved here. Not sure what my bass buying future holds, but I have three Birds with Lull pickups in them, I think I'll be OK.

Most basses are comfy for me.
Except for hollow body’s.
Could never really gel with them.

I've only spent a few minutes with a Casady, but it felt pretty good.

Gig report! Gigs have been few and far between but my Sabbath/ Ozzy tribute was rock'n Friday night (almost didn't happen singer had a heart procedure and the guitar player was running fever all week). The camera finally caught my solo and I'm pretty pleased. It starts with little homage to Geezer then I go off and make noise. The Bonanza theme pops up because years ago I was nicknamed Hoss at the The House of Guitars and I wanted to inject a little fun. Unfortunately I don't get to use my Thunderbirds this gig, I do miss that. The effect pedal is my WARM Jet Phaser.

I just got one of these, the mini version. I like it, and this explanation helps understand what it does. Although it doesn’t explain what the control knobs “do”.

If you read the whole thread, it kind of does. In two completely different ways, the second coming from one individual claiming inside knowledge.
