100 Watts, cheap Marshall ss guitar head, doesn't bring anything significant on the used market. My Wing Chun Sifu asked me to get it repaired and sell it for him. It still needs the reverb addressed, but I sat it on a 115 cab after getting the problem channel fixed, and gave it a run.
This little booger sounds pretty good! And it's dang loud. Looks like it might be a pretty good back-up and small gig head. It's got a decent overdrive channel, and I gotta admit I'm liking the Marshall logo, kind of a fun nod to Lemmy, my grandfather in rock n roll... And I don't need the reverb...
I'm also needing to take myself a little less seriously these days, and this is kind of like taking a swipe at the stuffy aspect of bass amplification, lol. I do still have my Eden, which I like. But this is kinda fun. And the overdrive kinda kills...

I fully support this, Roger. I've gotten some incredible tones from my Thunderbird through guitar heads. In my case it was an Orange. But at our practice space, there's at least one JCM800 and a JCM900. I should try one out.

Question for the group:

If you own a reverse T-Bird and non-reverse T-bird, do you notice any difference in the tone/projection between them?

I was also curious about any meaningful differences in the notes projection when played in the upper register?

I have noticed that I miss that upper register responsiveness when I am playing on a P-Bass or a Jazz bass.

Anyone have an idea what of neck repair might run on a Thunderbird? I've got an offer for a 60s NR II that's broken and needs some attention. I know it will depend on the break, but just wondering what something like that might run. AFAIK Mike is the only person I can think of who had one repaired under his care, but that was a good bit ago.

I haven't noticed any loss as I go up on either. If anything, my '21 NR seems to have better sustain than the Reverses. Oddly enough. Could be louder as you go up, but I'm not certain. I tend to play lighter areound the 12th fret anyway.

My early 80's Greco TB-900 has the holes for a bridge cover, but no clue if that was original or if a previous owner added a cover.

My 89 and 90 Greco birds have no such holes, much less a cover.

Did the late 70s Greco birds come with a bridge cover? I see some with and some without. The ones without, don't have holes in the body to indicate they did have one once.

My 1977 Greco II does have the factory installed bridge cover.
My 1990 Greco IV does not have a bridge cover.

Dave, here’s a Greco company ad from around 1977 showing the bridge cover…

….coincidentally, it also shows the neck pickup on both the II and IV in virtually identical locations, answering that age old question as well.
