They do not have the same shape.

The various Epi models are not even identical with each other, and specs may vary over time for a longer-lived model.

Not all. CP and VP are slightly larger bodies at the lower rear horn. I haven’t had issues with the Epi triangular case but my Gator doesn’t fit those.

Weird. My CP and VP fit my Gator case. They're snug but I didn't have to force either of them to fit. Mine are both 2019 basses; what are yours?

I think Gator has, or at least had, two sizes for Thunderbird cases.

It sounds amazing. I don’t have a true vintage Thunderbird to A/B it with. That'll have to wait until my next visit to San Ramon or the GTG. But with the Lo Riders Chris sent on it and through the SVT, it is a monster. Especially cranked. I got a bit worried last night while playing that I would wake up the semi hibernating bears. Or worse, set off the San Andreas fault. I’m looking forward to running it through my Mesa amps.

Epicenter was about 10 miles from my house. Was playing the Burny at volume and didn’t notice it until I saw the basses on the wall swaying.

Wild. Maybe my case is out of spec. Maybe the second/blem bit wasn't just the cover needing glue in a spot or two? Seems unlikely but ...

The lower rear horn on mine push the bodies forward and sit on the top of the middle cushion. Also, too short for VP. Must be a different model Gator. Mines from 2018.

It appears from old posts (search function worked!?!?!) that Thunderbird Bass Guitar Wood Case-GWE-TBIRD-BASS - Gator Cases is what I bought. Not sure how they are measuring "overall length". Strap button to headstock tip?

That one doesn’t appear to have a cushion in the lower right.

That is almost exactly the overhang of the ‘17 VP in he Bicentennial case. Maybe they modified later to accommodate the VPs ?

I was at a fire prevention meting. And didn’t feel it in the second floor of our clubhouse building. But it was sort of close in Thousand Oaks. Coincidentally, our Forest Service district manager was there and talked about their earthquake response protocols.

The Gator website says 48" overall length (interior) for this model.
But strap button niche to where the headstock would meet the case on mine is 51".
My CP and VP fit even with straps still on.
Both have extra room for the horn to be bigger.
