She’s 95% complete and just passed the sound test with flying colors!

The Silver Goth is nearly ready for prime time, just need to route the battery box and it’ll be finished. The DiMarzio One in Mudbucker position turns out to be very useable and versatile, it really complements the two Goth pickups which are tied into a 4 way rotary switch (not shown in the picture)(mid, mid+bridge series, mid+bridge parallel, bridge). The Aguilar OBP2 preamp can pan from full DiMarzio to full Goth pups and anything in between. The 15db bass boost/cut and 15db treble boost/cut combined with the pickup options really opens up tons of tone options. I really love three pup birds, so fun, so versatile. I’ll post some sound clips in the next few days.

My god how am I still alive, with intact hearing at 60????
Oh and a shout out to those who get this:

Remember: the label Speed Metal was NOT in reference to the meter at which the music is played.

My first car was a 1968 Dodge Coronet with a blown 426hemi ( 500hp)
Again: how did I survive?

Can you select just the neck pickup? Or it in combination?

I will ask for a membership # when it arrives, with a NBD post, glamour shots and initial impressions.

The tally keeps going up for the Power Steels. Never tried them, perhaps it’s time.

The more I think about it: the ergonomics can’t be that different than my Meteora:

Nice rig!

Congratulations Roger. Read the manual. Every night for a couple of weeks. Play with the knobs on both channels. I think you are familiar with the Boogie Channel concept? Rinse and repeat until you can do it in your sleep. I love my TT. It is my baby. I’ve spent hours learning it. My only thing is that since I’m not playing out, I don’t have a feel for the symmetry knob. Plenty of power. Play with running it at 2 Ohms, even if your cab setup doesn’t require it. Get the foot switch to switch between the channels.
So set the switch for 2 ohms with a 4 ohm cab?
Or even an 8 ohm load.
So no we're driving the poweramp hard into resistance... That's interesting.

I have a thing for the Model One p'up. Really dig what that can do in various contexts.

@agedhorse detailed this somewhere in the massive Subway thread.
On the D800 and the WD this cuts the power down to @ 400 watts pushing a 4ohm load.
Pushing an 8 ohm load this cuts it to about 250 IIRC.
It’s part of the design kinda like guitarists use a power brake on a tube head to push the power tubes into saturation.

That seems to make sense, purposely having less headroom...

Seagate is a customer, just no need to hang out in either the magnetic media or head manufacturing areas these days.
same here, worked in Scotts Valley for years when at E-mu and Datalogic who sold product to both divisions , remember visiting Conner in Denver when they got bought....seems like friggin' yesterday...

Yeah. They’re not getting any cheaper. I’m not robbing the 401k to get one. Especially in these uncertain times. If I don’t buy another Gibson, that’s ok. I have what I have. And they are all more than I expected to be able to get before I retire and things get really tight.
Totally overrated.....

Xyratex acquired Oliver designs in about 2010 so I spent a fair amount of time there supporting the Robotics.
Xyratex built the chassis for both E-mu and data logic drive cages. We built the assembly and tester lines for both WD and Seagate drive mfg plants along with many others. The drive logic duties were often handled by us too.

Each pickup can be soloed, and any combinations of pickups can also be selected or blended together.

As an example - if I wanted some creamy deep foundation I could solo the DiMarzio (neck pickup) but if I wanted to brighten up the DiMarzio or add more definition to the notes, I could turn the selector switch to position 4 (bridge pup solo) and then twist the pan knob towards center detent to blend in a bit of the bridge pickup or past center detent to gradually overtake the DiMarzio.

It’s an exceptionally flexible and quick on the fly control layout. To get there I had to custom design a control circuit utilizing Aguilar and Dingwall components in a Warwick inspired layout. There were significant challenges along the way, namely fitting ten pounds of components in a five pound control cavity, but it works, and works great.

It’s actually much more musical than I thought it would be. I was expecting a gooey Mudbucker, instead I’m finding it to be a powerful but nicely voiced humbucker. If the string spacing worked out it would be just as happy in a bridge position.
That’s the preamp pan…
Correct. The pan knob will pan from full Mudbucker to full selector switch output - with selector switch output options being mid pup only, mid and bridge in series, mid and bridge in parallel, and bridge pup only. All in all a pretty flexible layout and quicker on the fly than my three stacked vol/tone knob layout.

There is a Genzler head that has a similar trick (same designer?), anyway there is a thread talking about recabling your cab to 16ohms and the amp goes into breakup at much lower volumes.

At least that’s how I (mis?) understood it.
