Thunderbird Club

150 watts, it's a clone of a Marshall 1960 Plexi guitar amp, not quite as inherently bassy, a bit more mid forward which I like. The last 2 knobs to right are the volumes for each channel when jumpered, #1 is at about 2 and #2 is at 3 - loud, made that old Bird sound really good!

150 tube watts seems like a good amount. My AD200’s are both at a scoped 170 before any distortion. Funny thing is, when the stock 12AT7 is in (the preamp uses 2 x 12AX7 and 1 x 12AT7), it’s only getting about 130 clean watts, but when my amp guy swapped the 12AT7 for a 12BH7, he then got the 170 watts. This same circumstance happened with both my AD200’s. I’m not sure why because as much as I want to know how to work on my own amps, and I have a basic understanding of electronics, learning this would take time I don’t have. Maybe in retirement (as much as that seems like a non-reality at this point.).

@TBird1958 gotta now try them stuffed with ceviche....

12BH7s is what the SVT uses (2) for the splitter...happy to answer anything amp related I can if needed.

I had teased this before but now I’m definitely letting this one go, for what I feel is a very good price.

2001 Gibson Thunderbird, Tobacco Burst. Currently loaded with Lollar (nickel) pickups, with nickel rings that are double stick taped to the body(no screw holes), Babicz nickel bridge, Hipshot (nickel) ultra lite USA tuners and matching Hipshot drop tuner. These are a direct replacement for the stock tuners (no added screw holes), Dunlop (nickel) straplocks, including a recessed one in the lower edge to balance out what insignificant neck dive these are alleged to have. All original hardware (black “Y” key Grover tuners, black three point bridge, TB+ pickups and black strap pins and white pickguard) will be included. NO OHSC, it did not come with one when I bought it.

$1400.00 plus buyer pays shipping.

This one has great low action, and a really pretty finish on it, exceptional burst, better than my ‘95 for sure. I hate to part with it but I can’t stop buying new stuff so something has to go. I can provide more pics but these seem to be the only ones I have on my phone and I’m out of town until next weekend. The bottom pic shows the finish before I stick the rings on it.

Again, $1400 to club members, and I’ll provide the shipping box dimensions, weight and ship from address, and you can shop for the best rate, I’ll drop it off wherever. UPDATE, FedEx, USPS, or wherever. I’m near SFO, so I could probably bring it to whatever freight company you could find.

This will not be the price I list it at on CL or Reverb.

Wow. That sounds like a very good deal, indeed.

The 12BH7 can output quite a bit more current, which helps drive the output tubes harder. The gain is less than a third that of the 12AT7, but that matters in gaining stages, not so much the splitter/driver.

I gotta think about this...

It could be a 2001 to refinish.

all amps will do that, it's called Impedance mismatching....
Thanks Chucky.
Further down they talk about a tube emulation circuit and “the 3DPM circuitry”.

I would jump on it if I had the cash right now. More than $700 in very desirable upgrades and the gorgeous fretboard. I’ll be very envious of the person who buys this. What a Thunderbird!

lotsa emulation these days......kinda like the baffles in a Hellcat to make it sound like 70 Cuda....no thx....

Sure: why not it’s just between us right?

And my address is :
4000 Fink Road, Crows Landing, CA 95313, United States

Hope that helps!
:roflmao: That helps, thanks "John." Would it be asking too much for a birth date and bank routing number? It's not like it's not already on the black web and no telling how many lists for sale.

Thanks for the detail!
And the kind words about my postings.
I try to be engaging and entertaining.
As to the invite to the GTG I am anticipating it: it’ll be fun.

I was in Glendora through high school.
Victorville for a stint.
Played Hollywood / OC / San Bernardino / Santa Barbara / Bay Area through the 90s
Lived in OC from early 80’s through 2008.

Worked at G&L in the 80s
Took a hiatus from music 92-2008.

Relocated to NoCal in 08. San Jose, Fremont, Tracy: bought the house here in 18.
Did a country band with my Ex from 14-20.
I've seen you around, and am not so sure we didn't buy/sell something a number of years ago. But I may be incorrect on that.

Having been at G&L at that time you might appreciate my '81. It's fantastic and is one that will never be sold.
