Thunderbird Club

Hello,
I have a beautiful white Epiphone Tbird Pro coming to me in the mail. One of the early ones with rosewood fretboards.
Whats the deal with the probucker pickups? I had originally intended to put EMG PJ pickups in it as a stage bass but Ill consider the probuckers if they do the same thing. I have my 91 Gibson bone stock that I will die with so this one was intended to be the modding bass.
Also, is there a source for a gold bridge for these basses? I know the rex brown Epiphone Tbird has all gold hardware and I wonder if they are transferable.
Pic from the listing as proof-
Thank you

These (VP’s) are highly regarded, I’d advise giving the stock pickups a go before thinking of replacement.

Congrats on the bass!

Yes, Philadelphia Luthier carries a gold one but you may need t change the inserts.

Let’s hope so.
Here they are side by side:

Plan on cheap Eub to see if the challenge is too much, or rent one
Good idea. I started with a Steinberg NXT and then found a great deal on an Englehardt. Just something to be aware of:
Unlike a bass guitar where you use your hand as a clamp to bring the strings onto the fingerboard, on upright, to make it easier on your hand, you hold your hand in place and push the bass forward with your body against your fingers. That doesn't really work if there's no bass body to push against.
But EUBs will usually have lower action.

Good tip.
I have had an upright, and an EUB in the past.
And you are right on both observations.
Looking at the , admittedly horrible Palantino EUB. It can be made playable and decent sounding with a bit of work.
