Thunderbird Club

Me, too! Also the Santana songs, sultans of Swing, and Whole Lotta Love. For starters.
I meant about whether y’all play Stones songs. 😃
There are eighteen on there I really like. Very cool set list. And there are some Stones songs there I used to know how to play pretty well too.

All of that. It was the song that made me a Badfinger fan.
It was THE song in seventh/eighth grade. There was a good band with kids at the high school with a kid who was four years ahead of me on the local swim team, who sang it. He ended up at the Air Force Academy. They were the band we strove to be like when we were starting out. They were pretty cool and let us hang out at their practices. Sort of like passing the torch. They even let us drink a few of their beers. Different times in those days.

I was very lucky to have found mine when I did. It popped up in the fieds here from a player who was selling it to raise cash for some bills. It was a very fair $1200 ask and I didn’t even attempt to talk him down because of the seller’s circumstances. My wife agreed I should get it. The face was refinished in Silverburst (to cover a gouge) by what appears to be a reputable shop in Providence, so it is definitely one of a kind. The silver headstock trim adds a nice touch.

I watch for them just because. AFAIK, there have been five available between here, Reverb, eBay and Play It Again since I got it in December of ‘20 for my birthday. Rich bought one of them. They were $999.00 new in ‘11. That’s $1439 today. Gibson only did the one run of 400. It is my darkest sounding Thunderbird and adds tonal variety to my collection. It’s very much like a Studio with a flat face and narrow headstock. But it has the three point, not the Gibson Studio style bridge. Mine is my constant travel companion.

It would be cool if someone here could get the one that’s up on the verb. They’re fun little basses. I would get it and swap in a set of Gibson Vintage Reissues for variety, swap in a chrome Babicz, and chrome Gotohs. But I can’t justify that given I only have one more week of gainful employment.

I wish you could get it Mike.

Thanks. I truly have no need for one. I have a 'decent' Epi EB-0 for short scale situations.

Got it, the B-15. Will do a bit later. Stuck washing and sorting plums. Anyone need a hundred or so pounds? That might scratch the surface.

Gonna have to pass, they give me the poots. 🙀
