Thunderbird Club

So this was produced from the original but there was some loss in quality?

No, I would have preferred to use the original, but didn't have a high res image to do that, so this is a new creation based on the original.

I put some new Ken Smith Rock Masters on it last night, sounds so good!

Well, of course. Purple silks.

Bass Burners have orange silks. They sounded really good on the pixie dust '01 through the original 360 stack at last night's band practice. The action on that bass is set pretty low, which means getting a clank off the top of the pickups works well and gives a whole lot of definite attack. Especially with fingers. It helped that we had a drummer who could control volume well. My head wasn't ringing through earplugs at the end of the session. That's a nice change with this band. Plus I could hear the singer most of the time. The guitarist was still too loud. Can't have everything.

This isn't the first time this one has been brought up here.

Lull Thunderbird - Tom Petersson

It is black and gold, which isn't exactly my thing. But, if it wasn't so expensive, it sure would be hard to resist. The pickup placement would make it sound amazing, at least I would expect so.

I have been thinking blasphemous thoughts again. The 2015 never gets played, and I might put it up for sale. Maybe. It might be one of those fleeting thoughts, though.
I love my ‘15. It’s my #1. I love the pickups, the neck, the light weight, the quality of the workmanship, etc. They are rarely offered.

That said, you’re not me. You would easily be able to sell it for more than twice what I recall you paid. Then you could get a good amount to put toward toward that Peterson.

There's like 5 total TPT4 Birds, that's likely the only black one - kinda rare.

Kinda? Hmmmm.

Ya know, the 2015 could visit with Auntie Queen Veronica for awhile until you pine away for it - at which point I would return it :bassist:

It does sound amazing! Absolutely my best sounding Tbird and probably one of my best playing ones as well.

Thought long and hard about buying the black one to go with it, but he’s just asking much more than it’s worth. The one I have with the MaryKaye trans finish is just as rare (only one made with the ultra light swamp ash body in this finish, all the others, maybe 3 or 4 total, were mahogany in solid white finish except one solid black one. I paid a lot less for mine.

Have you played one? How do they sound?
Beautiful! More articulate than you would think considering the pup placement. Ultra light weight, very fast neck, impeccably built, wonderful authoritative pickups (kinda Greco like in how rich they are but maybe a bit more refined sounding). I’d love to have that black one but he’d have to knock a couple thousand off the sticker to interest me.
