Thunderbird Club

Starting recording of four more for Red Sun Ruins. Back with Bart at House of Faith in Oakland!

Not very “Metal”, but the PF 50 has a great Transformer Balanced output right off the power tubes. The little “FlipTops” SB12 has an Eminence DeltaLite II speaker, sounding a little gritty. Typically he relies on the direct out for most of the time but hopefully the cab will add some good mids and additional definition.

You should suggest they replace it with one of these.

I s'pose a little 'splaining is in order.
The first Thunderbird I ever held(in'70)may have been a reverse. Long ago, don't remember. All I know is that I was blown away by the neck, so the quest began. However, I was playing mostly keys and sax at the time-along with my '66 EB-3, so it wasn't urgent. Two years later when I went back to playing bass, I took a gig in NYC to be able to "stalk" the 48th(?)street music stores to find one. That's when I found/was found by the '66NR. And that's the main bass I've been playing since '72. IOW, I'm used to the NR configuration. I've since held-not played-a reverse at a GC. Felt familiar but not quite right.
For me.
And now you know (most of) the rest of the story.
Thanks, Paul Harvey.

Yes, a bit far away though. It’s in the Adelaide Hills, closing to Hahndorf (I think).

Yes, there's 4 or 5 feeding on the back deck any given time (among others). It's our state bird. Some some blue trash the people in Lexington would have preferred. ;) I think Kentucky was the first state to choose a state bird.

Cool.
NSW State bird is the Kookaburra. Fun fact, in earlier days some referred to them as the “laughing Jackass”. I’m glad that fell from favour.

Pretty much that! Though it's a complete project: body work extensively, new paint, chrome details, interior, & all the mechanic too. But again, it's a hopeful project, if i can actually acquire the car from whoever the owner is. It's been sitting where i used to live a couple of years ago, on a trailer bed, waiting.

I’m guessing then that Canada got both British and American Fords like Australia did?

We would have (before my time) things like Prefects, Anglias and Zephyrs alongside Customlines and Fairlanes before the Falcon and its derivatives took over locally. Even then we were building/assembling Escorts and Cortinas with the unique locally produced Falcon & local Fairlane.

Hey Everybody! I've bee interested in the Epi Thunderbird Vintage Pro. Has there ever been any talk of them making a Non-reverse model?
I've brought the subject up with Epiphone they didn't seem very interested but you never know.

They get plenty of love on here.

Going back to when the VP was released for model year ‘17, many of us on here expressed hope that they would do an Epi NR VP. I think most hopes were put to rest when Gibson did the NR reissues in ‘21 and they became Gibson’s bread and butter as far as Thunderbirds were concerned up until now. The good news is that there are plenty of used ones at decent prices available. Heck, Sweetwater was practically giving away Ebony ones a couple weeks ago. But they’re back to the regular $2399.00 this week. They are very nice Thunderbirds.
