Thunderbird Club

So, I want a backup head and want to dump my TE 200w combo amp. There is an SVT CL about 45 minutes from me and was thinking of seeing if it was worth it to trade the TE against the SVT. They are asking 1000.00. There is a Peavey VB2 on eBay that isn't getting much movement at 365$ plus 50$ shipping. The VB only is 225w while the SVT is 300w. Which one would you go for?
The Peavy! A 200 all tube head will crush!

Just from my point of view, $1000 seems a lot for a backup unit.

Someone else can speak to if the difference in power is material in practical terms.

At those prices? Deffo Peavey, eh.

Here is the US FWS page with a downloadable instrument passport form. It had to be rosewood eh? Only the most common fretboard wood, eh.

That's it... No more purchasing basses on US Ebay with rosewood fingerboards! :(

I will say this... as I've noodled on various tunes in the past, I would find myself thinking' "This would sound better on a P bass", or "this would sound killer on a Ric", and different things like that. In the short time I've had to play this 'bird... I haven't thought of anything other than rolling off the bridge pickup a little, or rolling back the tone knob a bit. I don't wannanother bass comin' along & f***in' up my vibe! I believe it's @hillerup who's sig says, "For me, there are basses and then there are Thunderbirds". I get that now! The sound and feel is unique. Thunderbird world, parallels the world of other basses. You can make an Ibanez sound like a Fender... but you can't make anything sound like a Thunderbird, other than another Thunderbird!

(BeeTeeDubz... I need another Thunderbird...)

You truly have been chosen by the mighty T-Bird... :)

What's your current main head? And is the backup strictly for if your main breaks or are you going to go back-and-forth between the two, bassically, what are your intentions for the backup head?

There's a grub screw in each saddle carrier that locks into the channel wall. I'd post a picture but I'm between photo hosters:mad::rage::spit::)

I kinda figured that, but how do you move the saddle back and forth?

Do you need to loosen the strings, reposition the saddle with your fingers to an imaginary spot and then tune up the strings to check the intonation is right - And then do it all over again if the intonation is still off?

That seems quite cumbersome to me.

So are these saddles like the Spector ones, in that intonation is achieved by unlocking the grub screw and manually moving the saddle? If so, it's ok, it works, just a different flavor and not much harder or easier than any other bridge with a screw driven intonation method.

I think it's akward...

Which brings me to this film, although, not so canny.
Walkabout.
I was 13 when my mom took my brother and I to see it.

Slight derail....

Mate, Walkabout is a fine film, but you REALLY need to see Wake In Fright, available on Youtube in ordinary quality or you can track down the DVD.

Wake in Fright - Wikipedia

I once saw The Tracker (2002) with David Gulpilil at a festival - What a great movie that was... Have been searching for it ever since.
