Thunderbird Club

Now if only Epiphone would release a NR Pelham Blue single pup reissue......

NR Pelham blue. I would buy that.

@Sartori, know that there's absolutely nothing going on in Jindabyne where the OP says they live. It's absolutely in the middle of fvcking nowhere, like most of the rest of this stolen country. Let that bring a wry smile to your dial.

Canny film but: Jindabyne (film) - Wikipedia

Which brings me to this film, although, not so canny.
Walkabout.
I was 13 when my mom took my brother and I to see it.

Slight derail....

I will say this... as I've noodled on various tunes in the past, I would find myself thinking' "This would sound better on a P bass", or "this would sound killer on a Ric", and different things like that. In the short time I've had to play this 'bird... I haven't thought of anything other than rolling off the bridge pickup a little, or rolling back the tone knob a bit. I don't wannanother bass comin' along & f***in' up my vibe! I believe it's @hillerup who's sig says, "For me, there are basses and then there are Thunderbirds". I get that now! The sound and feel is unique. Thunderbird world, parallels the world of other basses. You can make an Ibanez sound like a Fender... but you can't make anything sound like a Thunderbird, other than another Thunderbird!

(BeeTeeDubz... I need another thunderbird...)

I think you may have been chosen mate.

The first time I plugged in my Goth I thought "that's the sound I have in my head".

So, you have less than 10 years on me, but I have been playing just a year (actually had my first lesson the first week of June last year). It is also my first foray into music. I really wish that someone had pushed me a little to do music when I was a kid. Instead I pursued the hard sciences almost to the exclusion of all else. It has worked well for me. But I really love playing and I am glad I have taken it up (even this late in life). I find it quite meditative and relaxing.

Like you, I regret none of my decisions. If I had it to do all over again, I would make completely different decisions, but I suspect I would end up in exactly the same place.
I had my lesson towards the end of Jan 2015, just after my 53rd birthday. They were a Birthday present. No experience in anything musical except playing records, cds and the like.
I have every intention of doing something musical to be the best of my abilities for the rest of my life. I'll just keep swimming along.

I love a good "no regrets" story! They're incredibly rare, and gotten to read 3 of them tonight! So @godofthunder59 , @TBird1958 , and @PillO ... hat's off to you! Sorry for the cliche... but when ya win at the game of life... it's a pretty big friggin' win!!!:thumbsup:
