Thunderbird Club

A lot more modelling and less layout construction than I should be doing.......but, yeah, if you think I'm nuts for Thunderbirds, the trains are a lifetime hobby.
My modeling focus is the mid '70s in central Utah, so everything I do fits that premise.

Damn this stuff is seriously amazing. Sorry if you mentioned it, but what scale do you use?

Have you tidied your room yet?

"Ugh. But Billy's mom never makes him clean his room!":(

Actually, I have done some chipping away in the last few days, with no thanks to my two furry "helpers". You can't rush this stuff and risk throwing that one piece of paper that has something meaningful on it.:roflmao:

BTW, that was very tricky of you to work in the cat shot in your peddle board post!

Only heard good things about those. Awaiting your verdict.
Will do. I am anxious to hear how the pairing sounds. There have been some recent posts from fellow Tbirders cranking it up and rattling their walls. So, now that it is summer session here, I am going to follow suit and haul the new rig to school one night and rock out in one of the empty teaching theaters.

So after looking at the Epiphone site again, I think it was @theFixer who mentioned something about a 3 way selector switch on the new Vintage Pro.
And I noticed in the discription a line in the specs to that effect.
Now that's just got to be a typo or mistake in the descriptions.
We all know the pictures show that to not be true. Wish they'd correct and delete that.
Just bugs me.
Ok, slight rant.
same. Not a big deal, but come on... really? Either they don't know anything about their own product, or they don't give enough of a damn to actually look at the photo they're describing. Neither shows them in a good light. The fact that it's been up for a week and hasn't been rectified, is probably even worse.:rollno:

Ok! I'm done now too. We now return to your regularly scheduled programming...

What are your guys using for pedal doards? I'm graduating from bedroom rocker to jamming with friends and need to find a board.

DIY. Housing is in the making for months now, but it's sufficient as is. They stick with velcro.

Found the wood in the dumbster and width fit with a doormat. It's a tad to narrow in length and I don't want to cut the mat.

Wow! Not only do you have 4 birds - But you also have 4 hi-fi sets in the same cupboard! Never seen that before... ;)

I blame the lack of stands, had to compensate with stereos.

Sloved played a beat-to-hell '63 T-bird II. He didn't have a clue of it's worth and frankly my dear he didn't give a crap- he just played the damn thing banging out low-tones in the cash register. Nobody in the dives his band played were going to give a rats-ass about his axe - they were either passed out at the bar, plotting some scam or eyeing the skirts that had the mis-fortune of wandering in. His old B-15 was in the shop and damn if he had the moola to bail it out - meantime he was using his guitarists spare Marshall rig with a rip in one of the drivers. It belched out a nasty tone that suited him but he missed the booty his Ampeg offered up.

Sloved asked Cleo how she heard about him and she told him she she looked through the yellow pages and saw his small ad. She said something about the name Dovewing comforted her, maybe because it sounded like a guardian angel or something. Sloved replied " yah well I didn't have much choice in the matter - my old man's folks probably made it up when they landed at Elis Island from Czechoslovakia when everyone was filtering through there. We never knew where he got money to play the bills and sometimes he didn't... anyway, that's neither between here or there - what's your story?"

"We're A Happy Family" by the Ramones... Great song from a great band! :)

I have played the Silverburst Bird when they were released. It has the wider neck on that version.

Indeed they have...

@RedVee, here's the answer to your question:

So... How does it sound as a II? Any significant difference from just turning the bridge volume off?

yeah... that's the part that had me amped. Until that come along, I'd only seen 2014s in black, white, & burst.

I don't believe the 2014 models were offered in Ebony and Classic White - So far I've only seen them in Vintage Sunburst, Heritage Cherry and Walnut.

My closest neighbour is probably half a kilometre :cautious:, only thing keeping me from turning it up to 11 all the time is my mom doesn't appreciate my kind of music... or music at all really. My dad encourages the loudness. But headphones are cheaper than renting a house.

Living at home with your parents?

I don't try to catch up anymore...

I know the feeling: Just finished catching up on 15 pages - Took several hours! :meh:

MAN! If their store is anything like their website... Chicago Music Exchange is where I need to be! Thanks for the tip!

BTW... somebody here neeeeeeeeds this! @godofthunder59 maybe???

I believe Scott is a Hiwatt guy - Not a Marshall guy... ;)

You know what the say about sympathy? It can be found between sh*t and syphilis in the dictionary. :roflmao:

You're cracking me up, Larry! :roflmao:

Wow! :woot:

I might sell my Studio V and a couple of others for a shot at it. I already placed a bid so that I'd get notified when the auction nears the end. :greedy:

Good luck with the auction, Larry! ;)

I need coffee before I can join back in.
The aliens got tired of me, so they threw me out of the ship.

So... How was the probing? ;)

Ohhhhh, that made my heart stop for a second. LP or Pelham on that bass and I'd be GAS-Free for life.

Yeah, right...

And I was going to tell my story about getting kicked off the alien mothership.

"Sloved" has got me beat.
Intriguing it is I tells ya.

Damn! I was anticipating an elaborate story about anal probing and such... :nailbiting:

They were at first, but I didn't quite meet on their intellectual level when it came to quantum physics and experimental breeding on humans, when I started in with Jeff Bridges as "The Dude" and "Thunderbirds", that's when they opened the door and shoved me out, you know, it's tough to do a tuck and roll from another universe.

Enough with the suspense JR: WHAT'S UP WITH THE PROBING??? :D

The White '86 Thunderbird II, love this bass!

Would love to see the Uwe's entire collection... :)

It's typical of Epiphone - The website is full of wrong and misleading info.:rollno:

I blew my chance with the probing.
Just when I was ready and willing, I started in with "The Dude" and "Pelham Blue Thunderbirds", think I killed their strong desire for foreplay, the door opened, and out I went.

I'm an Orphan, do you really want to know the rest?

I seem to recall that Kat used the Velcro to hold the cat on the pedal board. Not sure where she plugs into it though.

Thank you, Ken.
Those are all HO Scale, so around 10 inches or so.

So 10" is ho scale? Always interesting information here...

I seem to recall that @Gaolee has both the 2013 EB and the 2015 bird. So, he could address this. I have the 2015 bird and love it but no other birds or EBs to compare.
The 'Bird is a bit darker sounding, as you would expect. They are both versatile. You can get a Bumper tone out of each, including a sound similar to a Jazz but less nasal. They both can get pretty close to a Precision. Probably closer to that than a Jazz. Then you untap the coils and they roar like Gibsons. I can't say one is better than the other. They are just a little different in exactly the way you would expect based on materials.
