Thunderbird Club

That's similar to the Fenderbird project. I would prefer a V shaped neck and really little vintage size frets, which I don't have, but it's close enough. No binding, but I don't really want binding. The fretboard is rosewood, so I won't be sending it anywhere, and it's only 1-5/8" instead of 1-1/2". My cave dwelling hands aren't all that sensitive anyway. Babicz bridge and a split rail pickup. The functional departure is headstock adjustment. I really don't like the heel adjustment at all. My P has that, and it's built so you have to loosen the strings and half-remove the neck to adjust it. It's a PITA.
You're the 3rd Fenderbird on the list of "dream basses". What is the attraction? Looks? Feel? uniqueness?
(just to be absolutely clear... there is no attitude, "judginess", or ulterior motive to my question. That crap lives out amongst the GenPoppers. It's just that I would've been adequately surprised by one Fenderbird response. With three of them... I'm startin' to wonder if I'm missin' out on sumthin'!)

I happen to really like the sound of a Precision. I happen to really like the ergonomics of a Thunderbird. I like the sound of a 'Bird, too. The 2015 gets really close to a P sound, but it is still just a little different. There's nothing magic about a Fenderbird, really. You aren't missing anything at all.

My P neck Thunderbacker exists out of neccesity, it has everything I need from a bass and its the finest tool in my box. Had I never owned a P I would not know how to keep my Bird and be 100% happy with it. For the size of my hands and my affection for the P neck for the way it allows me to move freely across the fretboard like drunkard on an open dance floor .... Well.... Lets just say that is the way I roll. But with a little more grace...... Hopefuly. I love my Bird mow like I never have before.

I'm finding something odd with my setup. I set the intonation and such myself. It's currently perfect, but the saddle for the D string is actually a bit in front of the G. I don't remember seeing that before. Anyone else?
On guitar, I've seen things that seemed "irregular" like that, many times. I used to have a Telecaster with an A string that still registered as flat (confirmed on 3 different tuners), with the saddle run all the way out! The other 5 behaved normally. At the time, it was a complete mystery, but it just occurred to me that a barrel being out of round, or an off-center screw hole could be possible causes (just spit-ballin' here)

Joe is one of my best friends and lives very close by. He did an amazing job on that bass!! He is crazy detailed so he was very picky about how he handled some of the process. That bass is stunning in person.

When i saw the picture of it while surfing the net, i thought it was the real thing, i didn't bother to "visit page" and read up.

Just took a look at the Gibson site, 2017 models are up there.
But no new basses from what i looked over, just the latest EB models.
So unless i missed something, (which i do at times), doesn't appear to be anything new in the way of basses.

There shouldn't be anything there regarding their plans for 2018, most likely they will not even advertise the basses I had info on a couple weeks back. At 100 pcs. they'll just do them and move on. Not a great policy on Gibson's part, but that's how they roll.

Yeah... "Hank" seems to view his customers as a necessary evil.

Why advertise something you haven't made yet ( and are only making 100 of) a year in advance?
