More to flip it, but I have a Mesa Strategy (I got it for roughly equivalent to $1500-1800 US WITH a mint Mesa 410, and I like the multi watt feature)
Ah. Well, that would be a different reason to buy it from what I would have. But, if you plug a 'Bird into an appropriate Acoustic head and run it through the 301, you might find all kinds of other amplifiers become surplus. The one thing to remember is that they were built before there were many B-strings or much use of octave pedals, so they aren't ideal for going down to sub-earthquake frequencies. They can do it, but aren't going to blow down walls with low frequencies. They are far better at higher frequencies than they have any right to be.

Yes I saw the press about the 2018 limited numbers Gibson basses.
I have two RDs- a Standard and an Artist and they are unique basses- very different from each other but each unique because of the electronics. I wonder what the electronics will be like in the new Artist.
The Novoselic Standard a few years back missed the mark IMO by simply using Jazz Bass pickups- the Standard had Humbuckers that were only ever used in that bass, which gave it a voice of it's own. If they just stick TB+s in an RD body without all the fancy electronics and call it an Artist because they put an inlay on the headstock, it will be a major disappointment.
The other issue for the new RD could be it's weight. The original RDs had very thick maple bodies and were heavy basses (around 11 pounds), which actually helped them balance reasonably well.
I don't want to to be a downer butI am not confident Gibson will do the RD Artist justice.
They would need the whole Moog wizardry for it to be a real RD Artist.

4K is the list price of a Thunderbird over here.
Calculated in Oz pesos. Or maybe these:

I wouldn't sell it without "testing to make sure it works" first
If it were 8 ohm I'd run it with my 410.

That brings back memories. It's the first time I've actually seen a video of this song, pretty cool. He sure fiddles with his bass knobs a lot, more in one song than I do an entire night.
I noticed that too! I'm not slaggin' P-basses at all, but if ever there was a bass that could function adequately with nothing more than an on/off switch... that'd be the one! I wonder if he was trying to dial in the spirit world or communicate with alien life forms or sup'm?

On a side note here, i just spoke with my rep. at SweetWater, figure there is no harm in asking about my order.
I'm definitely in line on the first wave of Vintage Pro's that come in. So that's good news.
He is saying that they think early September for the first of them.
I think that's in line with the last conversation i had with them.
Fingers crossed.

You may find it easier to herk around than your 410. I hate 410s. So does my back. Oh, and do you want to know my opinion of 410 cabinets? Well, lemme tell ya!

If you picked it up for $200 and the speaker could be reconed, you would probably have less than $250 into it when you get it working. If it's in even halfway decent cosmetic condition, you should be able to sell it for plenty more, but I couldn't tell you how much more.

I suggest selling the 410. Or throwing it into a river and sparing the lumbar region of a multitude of future owners.

The 410's are definitely awkward to carry, but they'd be staying at home anyways. If/when I start gigging, I'd probably get used 810... or use that 301.
