Most likely Gibson's 1st 5 string bass. Neck looks wide but it's been played a lot so it probably sounds pretty good.

At my place I’ve seen the Indian Mynahs chasing the Crows away. Which shocked me the first time I saw it.
I don’t shoot or hunt, but these things would be the straw that leads me to it.

I saw it. It's a great deal for someone who's playing out at large venues. I already have the holy grail amp for that (SVT VR) along with a fridge killer Bergantino NV610. What I don't have is a large venue schedule anymore and not really looking for one, my preference these days is for smaller more intimate settings, lower volumes and lighter less complex haul in and outs. Hence, my big rig hasn't even been turned on in nearly 4 years.

I did think about snapping it up as an investment but then I'd just be storing it until I sell it and to be quite honest the best I could do would be to clear maybe one or two hundred bucks on a resale, not worth the effort in my book - besides I'd hate to take a gem like that out of circulation just to let it gather dust in my house when a player could be rocking it instead.

I just turned in my Peavey 810 for some similar reasons. That cab is monster, but it's overkill for my gig life, on all fronts. Reggae band has able pa, clubs are mostly all small enough for a combo, and load in/out at home is like moving a large couch.

It's been time to consider what it takes to get the most out of life...

I AM paying attention to the instruments I'm playing, however. T-Bird, EB-3, MM knock-off, all getting p'up/wiring-and-other attention.

The EB-3's neck pickup is microphonic, so it's getting DiMarzio Model One... I heard playback of it at rehearsal last week and I really like that sound! In my experience that Model One is a nice upgrade to the same vibe, so I'm psyched for that.

The T-Bird is hopefully getting a wider neck (swapping with our boy Hillerup), and I'm on the watch for a different pickup for that one as well. Likely something along the lines of a TB+ I think... $$, but in good time.

The MM copy, an OLP, is getting a preamp harness installed. I like that very wide neck for some poppin' I'm having to do on a Plan 9 tune, and bass player #2 is coming along at some point, so I might as well have some tools handy for staying out of the mud with.

The T-Bird with new neck is going to be a real gas I think. And more brass! Yeah baby.

Lol. We don't really argue or get very toxic here, so it's fun to hang. And we like to poke fun at the "General Population"... hard to get enough of that!

Finally something that's cheaper in Canada! (for obvious reasons)
Went to the L&M near my college after class yesterday, they had TWO used Traynor YBA200's. I only looked at the one for a couple seconds, it was $450ish but pretty sure it had KT88's. The other one was more of a rental, but available for purchase I believe, don't know the price or tubes. Unfortunately I was on my way out when I spotted them and didn't try them out, their used bass amps were out on the floor away from the bass section, kinda dumb if you ask me.

This leads to a rant about music stores. Every bass I picked up there was nearly unplayable, good amount of neck relief, and at least a 1/4 inch string action! You'd think they would at least setup the higher end/more common basses. I picked up a USA 7ender P bass, and if I were in the market for one, I would have walked away. The P was actually tort-ure to play, you'd think they'd try to push the $2000 instruments by having them play amazingly. They had an Epi bolt-on and a Pro-IV in natural that weren't terrible but not great either. They also had an EBMM StingRay that looked fairly new from the wall, seemed like the plastic was still on the pg... but the strings were COMPLETELY RUSTED! If it were a $200 bass that is one thing, not exactly acceptable but still a different story, but it was an actual USA EBMM! Sad thing is it's a nice store with nice people, but it seems like they don't know how to sell instruments.
Rant over, I got work to do.
