Thunderbird Club

Opinions, please. I’m on the verge of buying my first bird. Looked at plenty of em, including Grecos, Epis and Orville’s but can’t help but think the first one should be a Gibson. What do you fine folks think?
Well... it seems that the new Vintage Pros are readily available (finally!). That's where my money would go, if I were in yer shoes. First... because it's gorgeous, neck-thru, & 6 hunnerd bux!:thumbsup: Second... because, though it was obviously inspired by the early Thunderbirds... it also represents the present, and most likely the future of the 'bird. It's the perfect time for you to buy that specific bass. You have no biases for it or against it. It doesn't matter to you how it compares to its predecessors. It only matters if you like it or not!:bassist:

I laughed out loud!........

I go away for dinner and this is what happens - it's a wonderful place here.

Seller says it’ll get to UPS tomorrow. We’ll see. Coming from San Diego, so it’s gonna be a minute. Too soon to be dreaming about chrome? :)

Never too soon, but give those pickups a fair shake, plenty of folks like them just fine.

That is a great observation, thanks! Only one wrinkle :/

I’ll definetly give em a fair shake! Looking forward to it, in fact. I’ve heard some clips of this era bass that sound mighty fine indeed :)

I have a couple rock record sessions coming up...like driving rock stuff, to give me a break from my normal Americana/Roots/country/rockabilly thing. Looking forward to giving this bass a spin on those records for sure!

Hang tight.
"Hang tight"??? Really??? "Hang tight"... wow... I'm sure Duke is thanking his lucky stars that he brought his query before this court of wise, experienced, knowledgable, and passionate Thunderbird enthusiasts! I mean... where else would he have had his path lain out for him so succinctly? How else would he possibly have acquired this knowledge, had it not been bestowed upon him by a man of such infinite wisdom? Now that he knows he needs to "hang tight"... I mean... WOW, ya know? Friggin' game changer right there! Take yer time, Duke. Process the information. Let it sink in. I know it's a lot to handle all at once... :whistle:

(Been a while since I've seen a good chop-bustin' around here):woot::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I bought a 2000 TB a few months ago with slightly a bit warped pickguard, fixed the warping with hot water and some pressure, only to discover that the same pickguard has shrunk. So I am looking if anyone can provide me a scan of the pickguard with a ruler next to it (scanned altogether) for scale... Please? Going to order a new one, probably in red tortoise - since my TB is in ebony. Appreciate it!

Just got back from the Nethercutt Collection in LA. It was one of our Porsche Club day trips, about 30 of us drove down from Ventura county. Very nicely stocked car museum and vintage music machine museum with a cool 4-6-4 Steam locomotive and Pullman dining and sleeper car.
First a pic for our Queen...

...it's the first time I had actually been up close to a steam locomotive. I had no idea the drive wheels on these things were so massive. Those large wheels connected to the steam pistons were nearly six feet tall!

Lovely Royal Hudson (4-6-4 wheel arrangement is called a "Hudson" after the river in New York), the Canadian Pacific pleasantly styled the locomotive incorporating a bit of a European look to it while retaining a North American look. Maroon with gold pinstripe, very classy.
I'm out for a dinner tonight is the Duesenberg picking me up :woot:

Yep, always liked the Royal Hudsons. My parents used to take me up to BC when I was a kid when BC Rail was still running No.2860 between Vancouver and Squamish, rode on it a number of times. Sadly, I don't believe they run it anymore, I believe the engine is laid up in need of work. Here's more info on it: Invalid Link Removed
