Thunderbird Club

Once you have a tuner and a power supply you have the beginnings of a board. The Vintage Ultra doesn't take batteries, so you really do need a PSU. You have the power, why not a flanger? Well probably lots of reasons for most people, but if it's good enough for George Murray who am I to argue?
I hate batteries for pedals. My Dunwich doesn't even take them.

I’m on it! At UPS now. Ironically, on my way in a driver asked me what my address was. When I told him, he said “I was your delivery man and made two different attempts today!” I told him one of us was in the living room, right by the front door the entire day. He said “You must not have heard me knock.” I said, “well, that’s strange because we happened to get packages from FedEx and USPS today and we heard them”
What a dick***.

What an ignorant fvck.

My best guess is he spaced out that there were two packages and just delivered the small one, then tried to cover his a$$ later. He got awfully quiet when I asked him why he didn’t tag the door.

Bird in hand?

As a matter of fact...

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DO THEY COMPARE?!

It's cool to see the small differences between the two, mainly things like truss rod cover and pick guard placement. It appears that the bridge on the 2001 is a little further back too!

Man, you’re noticing details quicker than me and I’m looking right at em!

Pffffffttttttt!

Jammy, jammy bugger.

I’m assuming that’s Australian for “congratulations, my dear friend. I’m very happy for you!”
It is, right?

Ya... I have a weird ability for noticing detail, I think it came from building cars.

What really caught my eye just now is the body to neck is wider and longer on the 14, look at the 16th fret on each.

I’ll take your word for it :)

The 2002 is slightly more dinged up, but very slightly and it’s 12 years older, so there’s that. Glad you called my attention to the truss rod covers, because they were totally loose on the 2002. In fact, one screw is missing :/

I like the more yellowed/cream pickguard on the 2002. Could be my imagination as I’m just sitting down with em both. I have no idea what kind of strings are on the 2002, so I can’t say for sure, but so far the 2014 is more growly in the mids, where the 02 is more ‘bitey.’ Sharper attack, I guess. I’m happy they don’t sound exactly the same though! The fingerboard on the ‘02 seems a tad flatter as well, which ain’t a good or bad thing to me

Glad I helped with that!

What's the pickup heights on each bass? The pickups on my white bird are slight lower than on my black one, and it is a lot smoother sounding, but like your 2002, my white bird also has an ebony board.
My 2013 black bird is a lot more growly.

Pickups are a tad lower on the ‘02...that could be part of it :)

Get them jacked up.

I’ll play around with em, but I know some folks prefer em jacked high and other cranked low. I’m sensing you have an opinion :)

Glad you FINALLY got your Bass from the UPS Police. No Love lost for those Guy's. Looks great! It's not nice to Lie about Deliveries.

It really isn’t! Thanks!
